    Notches in both the upper and lower shift rods MUST be lined up BEFORE the bolts are put into the connecter.

    Take a good look at a stator.-----Consider making one to suit your needs.----Nothing but magnet wire wound on some metal bits.

    Install a new water pump impeller.----The 3/8" spark jump test has nothing to do with the gap on the plugs.----It is a standard method to check ignition maximum / proper spark intensity!

    Are you pushing the key in and holding it in while cranking it over?-----And careful with excessive cranking as starter will be destroyed.

    With 6 drops of fuel in each sparkplug hole it should bark like a wild dog.----If not , you do not have strong spark or spark at the wrong time !----Simple as that.----With carburetor removed does opening in reed block line up?----Post picture of that.-----This motor should be simple to figure out.
