    25 horse Johnson

I understand that I am not providing proper information but this is all I have to go on. I called a local marine shop looking for a motor. They have a 25 hp Johnson that has been sitting there for 5-6 years. It does not have a model/serial plate on it. The guy said the only number is on the...

Should I cut my tape lines?

I am done painting my boat and I am going to remove the tape within the next few days. Do I need to run a razor blade at the edge of the paint to ensure that the tape does not take any of the new paint away? The picture shows the tape line right above the brown paper.

    True Ground?

I was installing a new set of trailer lights on my project this weekend and when I would press on the brake the lights would turn off, also the blinkers would blink on all the trailer lights. I figure it is a grounding issue, so here are some questions... Does the trailer have to be attached to...

    Where to find an outboard?

I have been looking at Craigslist and Ebay along with every local classified in search for a 15-25 hp outboard. I am coming up with just junk or something priced like it was made out of gold! Does anyone have any ideas on where to look or do I just need to keep chipping away.

What color should I paint this!?!

I put a grey primer coat on the trailer yesterday and I am having a hard time deciding on a final color. I want the trailer and boat to match. I was thinking a dark blue for the boat with a grey stripe and matching grey trailer? Any suggestions?

what should I park my boat/trailer on

I got a metal carport installed in my back yard and I am keeping my boat back there all winter. My trailer is a dual axle so I did not want to go through the trouble of taking the tires off and keeping it on jackstands. What would be the best thing to park on? Its on the ground now.

    Fuel Mileage

I know, I know 1/3 to 1/3 back and 1/3 reserve. What I want to know is how many miles (approx) going in a straight line at cruising speed (35-40mph) my 1999 Chris Craft 200 Bowrider is able to go. I am planning a trip and the longest distance between marinias is 88 nautical miles. I have a 40...

    Pulley issue...

So, I am winterizing my boat today. I start by running the engine to warm up the oil (with muffs). I notice a small amount of water spraying up into the air by the movement of the belts. I begin inspecting to find where the water is coming from with no luck so I shut off the engine. There is...

    Different kinds of fuel tanks?

I got a great deal on a 14' duracraft aluminum boat ($100). The motor looks like it fell off the back of the boat while at speed on the road, so I dont want to fix it. The boat has not had a sticker since '93 so I trashed the old gas tank and fuel lines because they looked and smelled terrible...

I finally got around to working on the trim issue this past week. Thanks to Don for the input. He was right it was the trim pump motor. Put the new one on last night and it worked like a dream. broken/sheared lugs

while attempting to replace my dry-rotted goodyear marathons I found that some jack-hole torqued them down with a impact wrench. With a breaker bar I removed 3 lug nuts, the 4th sheared the lug off, and on the 5th one the whole lug spins in place! I cannot access the back of the hub to cut off...

    New Trim Motor

Are there any tips or tricks I need to know before I replace my trim pump motor, or is it pretty much unbolt and install? It's in a 99 Volvo 5.0 GL with the SX outdrive. The reason I am replacing is the when attempting to raise or lower the trim the motor sounds real labored and will only move...

    same trim problem.

I have posted this before and got troubleshooting advice, completed troubleshooting to no avail. The issue is the trim only going up a little before it stops, sometimes it trips the 50 amp breaker on the manifold other times it doesnt. If it doesnt trip the breaker I can wait 5 min or so and it...

    Trim Tripping Breaker

I suspect the relay's to be blame for my trim woes. When trimming up or down the 50 amp fuse on the breaker panel on the riser will sometimes trip and need resetting. It may take 5 mins or so to "snap" to reset the breaker. Other times the trim will stop working and not trip the breaker. With...

    how tight should bindings be?

I purchased a used wakeboard yesterday. The bindings are pretty tight, but I did get them on w/o water or soap. Should they be easy to get on and off? When I bust my a** does the board need to come off?

    Buying a used wakeboard

I have never owned a wakeboard but I have done it and want to get better at it. Local craigslist ad advertises 4-5 yr. old CWB wakeboard (does not know the model) with Liquid force Alpha One bindings, the seller thinks they are size 10 or so. He said this is a novice board with the fins on the...
