    2000 70hp Evinrude 4 stroke. Thoughts

sounds likely you have an unrelated potentially bad powerhead issue. maybe the belt slipped i'd check that. hopefully not an interference motor, but that suzuki (I think came from an esteem car originally) vintage probably is.

    1977 70HP Johnson Shift Rod

21 23/32. Just careful its quite tricky without that lovely height gauge tool. thats in neutral, offset facing wherever it was when you took it out im guessing to the port side.

    Opinions on aftermarket johnson/evinrude parts

about the only cheap parts i've used are the fuel pumps, but only a few times with no failures. much much better to just rebuild a factory one found all over ebay used.

1990 V4 runs on two cylinders at low RPMs

you really should get the little aluminum factory float gauge tool. makes it alot easier. I ALWAYS blow into the fuel inlet with a rubber hose with the carb both inverted and right side up to make sure its sealing and flowing. drop doesnt matter as long as its opening the needle. height when...

    Engine building tip regarding gel-seal?

ah the man speaks! haha thanks. I put an ultra-thin smear on the center main, but didn't know where to put it on the upper and lowers. any help you can give me and ill do the next one (eagle V6) that way. this is got me so curious to see if it actually works.

check the pulse limiter . but i'd now say you have an issue in a carb or 2. its quite easy to pinch a gasket or get something lodged in a passage or orifice. again pump the bulb to rule the pump out.

Swapping lower units on 1997 115 hp Johnson with 1989 90hp Johnson

im almost positive its the other way around! but would need to check. its also possible you have mix and matched years going on here as the shift shafts shouldn't be the same by 1997 but again would need to look

    Engine building tip regarding gel-seal?

yes! thats where i must've heard it. Racer here is what FaztBullet has mentioned: Re: Crankshaft sealing rings???????????? Did you measure cylinders for out of round and taper??? As posted earlier if seal rings...

    1993 Johnson, 200 hp help!

why not follow manual and get a cheap DVA adapter? why not just diconnect black/yellow at pack to rule out stop circuit? i would NOT run that flywheel . some seriously dangerous stuff. shift switch does not kill the whole motor, only 3 cyl.

Swapping lower units on 1997 115 hp Johnson with 1989 90hp Johnson

i'm fairly certain you CANNOT put the 1992 and later longer driveshaft into a 1991 and older motor as it will bind and put extreme load on the lower bearing. I tried that once and ran it on the hose for 10 seconds . after hearing a whirring noise i shut it down and grabbed the correct gearcase!

Buzzing in throttle housing '84 Johnson 90HP 4 cyl

there is supposed to be a rubber insulator on the outside to prevent it from closing its circuit, but agree with Racer make 100% sure its not overheating!

    2004 Johnson 50hp buying advice

funny thing about those... the trim MUST be working to command any kind of $. test that . bring own battery. whats he asking for it? i'd say no more than $500. its a late model sure with trim, but who knows what it needs! certainly carb service, water pump, gear oil, plugs, link n synch, im sure...

At End of rope: 1992 Evinrude 120

well i wouldnt say the only thing thats left is the OMS pump. Are you 100% sure there is no water in the fuel? I'd stick your fuel hose in a can of fresh premix to be sure. Pump the bulb when its acting up... any change? thats an easy way to see if your fuel pump is working so no guesswork...

    Engine building tip regarding gel-seal?

Someone had told me years ago to put a dot of gel seal on the center main and upper and lower bearing housing surfaces, as it would make the motor alot quiter. Thought i'd try it with my current build, a 2001 V4 looper 135, but where would you put the gel seal on the upper and lower caps and...

    Troubleshooting 1999 Johnson 225 HO

a bad hub = slippage= alot more RPM than 2k at WOT! This will do nothing in my opinion. Disconnect the tan temp sensor at the pack on both sides and retest. Just be 110% sure its not overheating. If the motor now gets up to full power, its the pack most likely. The only way to know for sure is...

    Loss of power, won't plane

Just mentioning that bearings in these are extremely robust. Unless you see chatter marks on the crank (remember bearings are HARDER than the crank pins) or pitting they are fine. Cost is a big issue with these older ones.

    Unknown port

looks like an early V4 looper with the pressure regulator on the starboard side. if we had a pic of the whole thing i assume someone was attempting to bypass that contraption, but it would shoot water out of that port if not plugged while running.

Wide open stall, above 3/4 throttle...

right but did it overheat? these t stat setups don't seem to have poppet/pressure relief valves, meaning the t stat always stays in place. if its stuck closed, looks like you can cook the powerhead.
