    Trapped water between ribs

yeah ... usually. but as I said, not in this case. thanks I'm not taking the entire aluminum floor up to drill holes. Been that way since 1989, so be it. **** POOR design. Lowe is cheap entry level stuff, to be expected, I guess. Thanks again, W

That is very much like my 16' Capri. Just wood in the center, heavy layup on either side.

    Trapped water between ribs

Hi folks. Reposting this here for more general exposure. Restoring a Lowe aluminum 1600 V, 1989. It has a flat aluminum floor that extends back to the bilge area which is from the last rib to the transom. Problem is, water between the ribs and under the floor cannot get to the bilge. Water stays...

    Lowe 1600 ribs

Hi folks. A Lowe 1600 V, 1989. Has a flat aluminum floor that extends back to the bilge area which is from the last rib to the transom. Problem is, water between the ribs and under the floor cannot get to the bilge. Water stays trapped between the forward ribs, which are riveted tightly to the...

Water in bilge? Bilge pump runs too often.

Yeah, probably best off not to do that. The video is hard for me to make out clearly, but it looked like the leak was quite low ... near the keel. A steep incline and minimal water might have exposed the culprit without filling the boat or soaking any electrical components. I'll retract that...

Water in bilge? Bilge pump runs too often.

A temporary internal wetting while on the trailer likely won't hurt anything. Park it bow up on an incline, fill the bilge with a hose until you can see where it runs OUT. (keep it hooked to the vehicle, or it might updump)

Treated bunk + carpet + aluminum = CORROSION

Oh yes no, MUCH cheaper to buy new carpet. The owner did rigorous research and determined that the process of the copper ions traveling through the water (and carpet) would no longer be an issue with the copper source removed. I suggested as you initially. I advised to watch it closely. Thanks

Treated bunk + carpet + aluminum = CORROSION

yeah, the pt is gone, the question was about the fabric being reused on the new wood. I doubt it would matter. We hosed them off anyway removing any/all of the pt wood remnants/chips/splinters from the drilling and such. Thanks

    3M vs Starbrite

Thanks ! I have a couple tests running now, various adhesive / sealing apps. 24 hrs to skin, 3 days to set/cure. wow. I do like that is is readily available at warmart in the small quantity. Still $12+ tho. Thanks again, W

    86 ? 9.9 hp Mercury Prop hub

That's what I was assuming, after looking at general prices and discussions posted around the web. I could install it, no prob there, but still haven't seen one available anywhere. Even asked a "prop shop", but they haven't replied. I have urethane of several durometers to make one out of, and...

    86 ? 9.9 hp Mercury Prop hub

Is there a hub kit available for a 1986 Mercury 9.9 hp prop ? Mine got sort of gooey and is slipping now. Or, is it made as an assembly and must I get a new prop ? Or, any method to repair ? Its a nice clean prop, other than the gooey rubber. Thanks

Treated bunk + carpet + aluminum = CORROSION

Fixing up a pontoon trailer. New Boat Blanket material was put over pressure treated 2x4's about mid April of this year. There are small white specs spotted throughout the blanket with very small matching corrosion spots on the pontoons. Its been to the lake 3 or 4 times. I pulled the bunks off...

    1979 Glastron Carlson CV-23 restoration

Pretty nifty driving there. I have 4 boats and several other smallish trailers that get moved around constantly. My neck and back don't turn like they used to, so I put a ball on the front of an old 15HP mower that was headed to the dump. Amazingly useful. I use it more than I ever imagined. I...
