    overpowering

Re: overpowering I did the same thing Frank A. Built a homemade fiberglass jon boat, just shy of 14' couldn't off been much over 200lbs as I put it in the back of my truck. Used it with a 9.9hp or even just a trolling motor. One day in the river decided to try a 15hp on it,it was blowing pretty...

A fishing boat and motor light enough for two to carry up and down river bank?

Re: A fishing boat and motor light enough for two to carry up and down river bank? I wouldn't totally write off a fiberglass. Years ago I took a mold off of 14' aluminum I had and made a fiberglass jon boat, probably only weighed 200lbs. I did it for reasons similar to you but I found the...

    Trolling motor efficiency

Re: Trolling motor efficiency I wouldn't worry about your bow nav lights. They sell these, yours seem fine to me....real bright... As to your question;it's easier to control your boat from the bow. On a small aluminum boat, any wind and your going to be fighting the boat.On calm days the stern...

    Hypothetical ? hp restrictions

I've never been to any hp restricted lakes(except for all electric reservoir). Who decides to change a lake to a certain hp,is there a vote or is it just something out of the blue? Reason I ask is,I imagine alot of people have some fairly big boats and we all know that undersizing an outboard...

Re: Upsizing original wire guage for trolling motor Heres one chart. How much 8 gauge we talking here? Although 8 is probably good enough up to 40' or so.

    Tiny Tach

Re: Tiny Tach Have mine on the front(handle) for the last 3 years. It's just wire tied there with some electrical tape,I do cover it when not in use but it has been rained on plenty of times. This is the only picture I could find right now but should give you a good idea.

    40hp Merc. 4 cylinder 2 stroke

Looking for some pros/cons of this outboard. Serial # OD152202...thinking it's a 1995? Person selling it "says",might of had 2 tanks gas through it,in all these years.(sure) I hasn't been run in 2 years and only in freshwater. I think it might burn alittle more gas then 3/2 cylinder but it...

    Is 12 volts 12 volts?

2-6volts(7Ah) rechargeable batteries in series...hooked in parallel, with a 12volt(120Ah) deep cycle battery. First question. Is there now 127 amp hours? Next, when they need recharging, can they stay in parallel(like they are)and be charged with one charger? Could you use the 10/15amp charge...

    1 or multi trolling motors

I see questions or advise giving on how many trolling motors to install on all electric boats and it always make me wonder. Lets say for an example a 1652 jon boat was the test boat(fully decked, approx 750lbs) Would it be better to use 1-36 volt trolling motor;2-24 volt TM's;3+ 12 volts TM's? I...

    40 hp 2002 4 stroke

Tried the search engine, not finding the info I'm looking for. Thinking of buying one, besides the general over looks, paint flaking, compression checks, lower unit oil...etc. Is there any other 4 stroke things I should be looking for?...this would be my first 4 stroke outboard. Is there any problems...

    Circuit Breakers TM

Lets say for a trolling motor I need 4/6 gauge wire to handle a 50amp breaker. Thats some good diameter wire. I'm trying to understand or get it through my thick head, why don't the little wires in the trolling motor melt before the breaker trips?(if it has to) The smaller diameter wires in the...
