Is there a way to reinstall this bolt? It would come thru the transom down in the bowels behind the motor so I dont even know if I could see where it goes. Anyone else have this issue. This is on a 1989 mercruser outdrive.
I replaced the water pump in the lower unit and now I have nothing at the prop. I tried the method listed on another page of turning the lower shaft all the way CCW until it clicks and this should have been neutral. But I still have no drive at the prop.I have changed several water pumps and...
I have a 1989 4 cylinder 100 hp that needs a rebuild, I am considering purchasing an already rebuilt unit. With all the different models out there how do I know that I am purchasing the right unit for a bolt on replacement?
I am getting ready to replace the seals and gaskets on my 100 hp 4 cylinder outboard lower unit. What seals should I suspect is leaking water into the gear case? I will replace the water pump while I have the unit apart. I have done the water pump 4 times in the past, but I wonder if I should...
Yes the motor has run higher than 3500 in past, the motor was rebuilt 3 years ago with maybe 50 hrs on it. I doubt its tired yet. I drilled a few small holes in the transom to check for rot or water. I got wood shavings out of the holes with no sign of rotten wood.
I am still struggling with the rpms on my 1989 Mercrusier Stern Drive 350. The engine runs fine but tops out at 3500 rpm. The ignition timing is good and the engine runs really smooth. I have made sure that there are no restrictions in the fuel line My question is: are there more than one...
Would it be normal to see stress cracks in the gel coat of a 1989 Invader cabin cruser? The cracking is in a radial pattern around the stern drive on the transom.
I see your point, its a money thing. I would never complain about hardware being replaced during a rebuild, especially when the failure results in a sinking boat. The outdrive was rebuilt at the same time.
