    Coils very rarely go bad. I would troubleshoot more before throwing parts at it.

    That pic before or after you ran it? Wrong bearing clearance will mess up a newly machined journal. Are those rods not the ones that came out of that block, originally?

    Sounds like a rod knock to me. You didn't check bearing clearances?

    Something is wrong with the plug wires orientation or the timing light, or the wrong balancer or pointer. I don't think a sbc will run at 33 degrees. The easiest way to check this is to get or make a piston stop. Take out all the spark plugs, put the stop in number 1 cylinder. Rotate the motor...

    You want the Zerk fitting hole under compression, not tension.
