I have been gone awhile but I'm back.
I recently picked up a new project boat and for the life of me I cant find a wiring diagram that matches mine.
The boat is a 1997 Monterey Montura with a 5.7. The original engine was cracked so I ordered a reman.
I found out that I have a bastard child...
Tonight I was bored and decided to take a borescope to look inside a 3,0 Mercruiser block. This engine ran great but it had water in the oil. I took the engine apart and found no cracks on the outside or no evidence of head gasket leak. I figured I would look on the inside and posted it online...
I purchased a new coupler for my 4.3 engine (18643A5). When I put it on and ground ran the engine, I noticed the grease tube on the coupler was way off center. I carefully checked the run-out on the coupler (right outside the splines) and it was perfect but the grease tube was off almost .250" ...
I just finished putting this 1996 4.3 engine together and started her up for the first time today. I upgraded to Vortec heads and installed new pistons. I have all the info on how to upgrade the Vortec heads in my restoration thread below. Since its been so cold lately so I spent some extra time...

Well this is the start of my restoration and so it begins with the adventure of bringing her home. I am off to Philly at 3am and I will be posting throughout the day of my progress. I hope all goes well, but I have brought along a full set of tools and an extra hub for the trailer just in case...
