Plastic is forever, right?
The old days the saying was, on a real quite night you can hear a Chevy rust
they said the same thing about every car from the 60's and 70's. and most of it was true


plastic in an automotive interior lasts about 5-6 years. in the engine bay, about 5 years, on the exterior of the car, 5-10 years.

Have not seen those time time lines, at least not with my vehicles. Have not had a plastic piece crack or deteriorate, vinyl yes

come down to Florida for a week. even the plastic shift bushings under the car have dried/cracked/fallen out

I lived in Sarasota back in the late 60s ..Salt and sun are wicked, it will be interesting to see how EV hold up.
