Hello i have a Yam 9.9 2stroke model 2003. I want to know if there is a way to be 15hp. I think they have same cc.
A mechanic told me that i have to change the reed and the zigler. is that correct?? Really is so simple?
This is a very easy upgrade. You need to change only three parts, the reed cage, the pilot jet and main jet - these parts are the only differances between the two engines. The 9.9 engine uses a 4 petal reed valve while the 15 hp is a 6 petal unit. Total parts cost is about $85 and it takes about an hour to do - clean the interior of the carb while you are at it and put in a new set of plugs (same heat range) Also it's time to change the water pump impeller or you risk blowing it up. - Bob
