I cannot find any internet help on this. I know there is some savvy men on this site!
I am trying to replace a stainless steel wire that opens and closes the water valve to my live well. Really difficult to remove and replace entire cable. It broke 2 inch two short. I would like to just feed a new stainless steel wire in the cable and remove the old one.
when I mike it I get different size: 1.70 MM and .069 inch. it is real stiff stainless steel wire.
Does anyone know the correct hard stainless steel size for the wire in a bass boat live well?
And do you know where I can purchase the wire?
It is a 1988 Stratus Bass Boat
Thank you in advance for your help

Read the rules.

Quit starting multiple threads on the same topic.

Your wiring is tinned copper. Not stainless.

You need 16 gauge wiring or larger.

You can get primary wire from iBoats, Amazon, pacer group, west marine, or any other retailer selling marine wire

I am so sorry, I did not remember that I had posted this on this site.
I am very sorry for the mistake. No harm intended, my mistake.

Why not buy a whole cable longer than what is needed, snip one end off, then measure and feed it through. They make a special tool to rebend one end but with a little practice you could do it with a couple of needle nose.

Scott, my understanding is that he's talking about a push/pull cable with a solid core in a jacket...not electrical wiring.

however if its a push-pull cable. the whole thing needs to be replaced. both inner wire and sheath

You might find what you need at https://store.flow-rite.com/livewell-builder.html. They make use those cables on the control valves (at least that is where I got mine). I fear you may have to replace the housing as well. But they should be able to give you the diameter of the stainless inner core.
