The following is one more example how Liberals (Democrats) are attempting to tear down the fabric of this country. To bring it down to the lowest common denominator of it's citizens. This is just one example out of many as to how they are slowly accomplishing this.

Not to mention the total lack of any connection between the story and half of American voters. I know how you feel, Boomyal. It's political correctness time again. They wanted it, they get it. It just pains me to know how hard it will be to climb back out of the Carteresc funk we will fall into.
even our own leadership failed us last month, so in a way, we have them to blame too... No brass, no will, no scruples. We need to learn from this, and hang in there. Fight their desrtruction wherever possible, and prepare to pick up the pieces in 2008 or 2010.

This is where the planets must have aligned or something, because I find myself in total agreement with Boomalicious.

While I may not quite be at a clotting-in-the-brain-and-stroking-out level over it, I do feel revulsion. I have never agreed with the "Everyones a winner" thing, because that is not reality. You raise a child in a manner that prepares that child for life as an adult. Part of being an adult is knowing you are always in competition, and not everyone is a winner. Honor roll, team sports, anything that causes children to compete, in a healthy constructive manner, allows these children to learn more and become better, more productive adults.

Telling kids that they are all winners leads to adults that have no real desire do achieve beyond the mediocre. As some may have guessed, my family is largely of democratic orientation, but we are more of a JFK democrat style (I myself am more of a middle-of-roader), not this simpering spineless way. Us kids grew up poor, at times, but we also did okay at times, and we never took a handout. We were raised that if we wanted to accomplish something, we had to work damn hard at it, and take no crap off anyone while doing it. Good grades and good behavior was rewarded with praise, crap grades and behavior rewarded with scorn.

As a result, us kids grew to adults that, while we have no real desire to be filthy rich, we do work our arses of to be at lifestyle levels that we are comfortable with. If that means we have to beat some other joe out to get it, well, thats life. This current mindset of kids having hurt egos and fragile feelings is all pure crap. What we have are kids that are bossing their parents around and being a bunch of self-entitled brats.

I agree but Saturday morning playgrounds are full to capacity with children playing in "everyone's a winner' leagues, supported by some of the right-wingest parents you'll ever see. Okay, mostly moms. The dads are keeping score. Even the democratic dads.

I kind of feel sorry for Boomie and all the other right wing wackos that get so bothered by some of this.
I'd think you'd be happy and quiet if you thought your kid was in this life and death competition, and half the opposition didn't know it was a competition.
What better way than to insure victory?

Life's too short to worry about little stuff like this, and there are lot's of different ways to achieve a successful, happy adult life. Who is to say they are wrong, for them, at least?

Way too much emphasis is put on high school sports, IMHO.....
Sad that most don't know how to subtract or divide, but they do know how to multiply.....
Besides when the black kids grow up they are better at sports anyway, ask anybody............
