where can I find original "66-69 pointed Glastron Jetflite V-143 seat any condition?

I am looking for an original "pointy" seat from a '66 thru '69 Glastron Jetflite V-143 to be used for my backyard Batboat project.

Anyone have one?

This is the type with the turned up, pointed design shown below. This design was only used in Glastron Jetflite Super Sports from 1966 through 1969 and may have been upholstered in a metal flake vinyl.

No matter what the condition; water logged, rotten or with blown out seams. I just need one top half and one bottom just in good enough shape to interpolate a pattern for the vinyl, inner foam, piping, wood structure, and pleats.

I see a few of you had been working on Jetflites. If you have a whole or partial seat contact me before tossing it out.

A good upholstery shop can re-produce those seats.
Or they could use some stock seats, re-covered and re-worked with pointy side panels!

Or try eBay, they have a Wanted section or you could post it as a Fore Sale/Wanted listing.

I enjoyed reading/watching your project as it comes together!

Re: where can I find original "66-69 pointed Glastron Jetflite V-143 seat any conditi

hi darren !!!

the design of those seats is actually in the foam....the pattern is second to the stitching.

any long time upholstery shop can duplicate those seats....easy....if you were here i would do it for you free
i know you have been doing this boat on a budget....so finding a seat may be the way to go just to get the foam. but at that age the foam may have deteriorated.

find what you can.......and if you cant....go to the upholstery shop.....its gonna be 350 a seat tho

Thanks for your replies.

For some reason I haven't been getting email notifications to my subscribed threads. :(

At another forum someone said they made a pattern which was shared. Have yet to hear back from them, however.

Thanks for the tips.

I would rather make the seats myself. Looks pretty easy. I live in a dead town so I have the time for trial error. lol

These seats may have been in the earlier Jetflite boats also.

I am still looking.

Hey Darren, I think I have the seats your looking for, I just bought a jetflite v-143, year I dont kno 1965-69???, but its identical to the one in the pics you posted & is a 100% complete boat, AS OF TODAY ANYWAY! I have full intentions of parting it out, but I need to re-read all the rules here & see the do's & don'ts so... I bought it for the 55hp johnson thats on it.

BTW, the seats are rather simple & as another poster stated, the deterioration of the foam is very noticable as the seat barely show that they were pointed when new! but they are there!!!

IMG_1474 (768x1024).jpgIMG_1475 (768x1024).jpg

I only have the jump seats left... I believe you are wanting the pointed cushion ones but those were sold awhile back! sorry but they were pretty bad & the points on them were gone due to deteriation!

Basically all I have is the,
both winshields(good glass/lexan)
Bow light
Grab rails
jumpseats
complete rub rail with all mounting hardware
the small Glastron emblem that was on the center of the transom!
The cleats
the speedo(complete)

Do you have any of this thin aluminum trim found on the "nose" of the boat that starts at the dash leading past the navagation light? It is the stuff pop riveted to the fiberglass in this photo.

IMG_1329.jpg

How about the aluminum trim that runs around the boat along under the edge of the top half? It sort of looks like a U channel. The attached photo points out where it is at.

I need both of these thin trims for my boat.

Also, please PM me on the price for one or both windshields WITHOUT the plexiglass.

Hello,

I have been restoring a v143 and if you still have any of these above mentioned parts available I would be very interested. Thank you.

Darren, Have you checked with an Upholsterer on having the seats made? I'm thinking it can't be that much to do.

The problem is that I need an original seat to make a pattern from.

Re: where can I find original "66-69 pointed Glastron Jetflite V-143 seat any conditi

I found this.

Jetflite V-143

  • The centerline of the Jetflite V-143 was 2 inches shorter at 14 feet, but its gunwale length of 15 feet 7 inches was 2 inches longer. This model had a 68-inch beam, a trans-width of 64 inches and a depth of 28 inches. This model could carry a load of approximately 505 lbs. The boat had a maximum power output of 65 hp and came with a metallic-red deck

Using that pic of the Red Seats and the dimensions of the boat any good fabricator and upholsterer should be able to figure out the diemensions and create a very good facsimile of those seats. Do you have the frames and only need the upholstered pads or do you need the frames too?

What's your budget?

I need just enough to figure out dimensions and size.

Since this will be in bad shape I am not looking to pay hundreds of dollars for it and plan to do the upholstering myself.
