Re: When does your official "Boat Season" start?

In the mid west our season can start late April to early march and end late September to early October. It depends on the overall weather trend for the year. If you want to really play it supper safe you could say memorial day to labor day but we usually squeeze in a month before and after. You have to watch for winds in spring here because the core of engineer lakes around here are shallow so just a bit of wind makes them too rough. Our two closest lakes are Carlyle lake IL and Rend lake IL and they both average between 8 to 10 foot deep on the depth finder.

I'm a fisherman; my boating season has no start or finish - except when I'm restoring my boat ?

I know that everyone lives in different parts of the country, but I was just curious to know where you live and when you take your boat out for the first time? what conditions do you wait for? etc.

I live in central VA, and I usually wait until an 80 degree day (water temp is unimportant) in usually March/April. I've taken my ski boat out as early as the first week of March (thanks, global warming).

It never ends with me on the James, I boat year-round. When you get ready to launch is about the time "we" catfishermen start fishing at night to avoid you. :p :D

Is there a boat season in AZ. Fish during the winter and water sports in the summer.

We usually hit the water by mid-April, May 1st at the latest. Just waiting for the water to liquefy right now.
Getting closer.

up here in Vancouver we can boat all year but effectively for me it starts mid february and ends at the end of October. Although I have been known to fish on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

Almost 90 degrees F down here already, and in March no less, so we don't really not have a boating "season" (perish the thought), but most folks here won't go out unless it's in the high 60's-low 70's. Of course, it does get coldish in the winter and the duck hunters love it. They'll go out in any kid of weather, but none of that solid water nonsense to deal with :)

TG this is Texas , where boating stops when one runs out of gas and starts again on the way back from the gas pumps !!
