May as add to this post, I have secured a few rods and real to date although a mate while out cod fishing an inland lake hooked what said was the biggest cod he has ever had so he thought. <br /><br />He fought this thing for well over an hour so his deckie said only to come up with a ( OPEN) beach umbrella. Now that would give you a battle.<br /><br />Naturally we don't give him to much stick over it

This happened earlier this summer. A friend and I were fishing in Galveston Bay. It got too rough for his boat, so we went to the Texas City Dike. Threw our lines in (surf fishing), grabbed some beers, hooked the poles in the grill guard of his truck and got into the cab for a little more beer and nap. I awoke to see my pole bend completely over. I yelled "BIG FISH". He came flying out of the truck, lost his hat, shoes, spilled his beer in the truck, and low an behold, there is a seagull on the ground tangled up in my line. Those things are MEAN!. We had to use a wooden oar to hold his head down while I cut my line. All the time, 100's of other seagulls flying overhead squaking (hoping we wouldn't be on the receiving end of the digestive track!)<br /><br />Figured it was time to go home after that.

Well I call my sister the bass master or the bass and gal champ. So far she has caught catfish on mepps spiners, and carp with the same number 2 lure. I have hooked into some nice crabs fishing in OR for salmon I would rather have the crab for table fair. The worst hooking would be my hand treble hook up the through the middle finger bone. All started when trying to shoot a raven with a 20 guage on a hunting and fishing trip reached into my jacket for a couple shells and ouch!!

the usual, a seagul, a big nasty snappin' turtle.<br />in calif., lobters , 6' moray eels .<br />but the wierdest fish I have ever seen is a<br />kelp fish. looked just like a piece of kelp.<br />halibut is pretty strange looking, but tasty.

When in Savannah we have a crab trap and like to have a blue crab feast from time to time. Even catch some rock crab. Once I pulled the trap up and attached to the outside was a horseshoe crab. I couldn't turn loose of the trap quick enough! They are not dangerous or anything but the surprise was enough for me!<br />Evidently they belong to the spider family and not crabs at all. horseshoe crab

I didn't catch this but it did "catch me" by surpise!<br />I was working on the Roamer's transom and there is a large swim platform. I was sitting on it reaching around to the side painting when I heard a loud blowing sound....a dolphin had surfaced and came to see what I was doing within arms reach and I almost had a heart attack. Remember JAWS, boy........

here's a scary one..... snorkling in Catalina<br />in about 4ft of water. go down to grab a nice <br />shell and spook a 5ft nurse? shark that was laying<br />on the bottom perfectly comoflauged. man did I <br />start swimming. like dolphins thay are mostly <br />harmless, it's the "surprise" that freaks you out!
