While fishing in a river near here, my brother gets tangled. Not wanting to loose his hook we keep circling the "log" he got snaged on. It starts coming up and out comes a 12" john boat! And he did the same the next year at another spot!<br /><br />I just caught a ball of line with hooks and sinkers!<br /><br />Richard

I caught a rose bush, that was blooming!<br /><br />I don't know if this counts, but one day we were trolling for crappie and my cousin, in the rear seat, kept insisting that somebody had a bite. We checked all the rods, nothing. "Y'all got a bite I'm telling ya!" Checked again, "bulls***", we reply. "There he is again! somebody has a d*** bite!" Not us!<br /><br />Turns out one of us had tangled in the motor much, much earlier in the day and the motor, dragging a jig, had caught one of the biggest slabs that day! We hit the power trim and reeled that sucker in.

I witnessed this....My buddy Harold and I were off the Kure Beach,NC coast one morning trolling for kings in my 19 runabout.The action was slow for a couple hours,but a few short strokers kept our hopes high.Suddenly,feeding fish were right off the bow.Harold,built like a fire plug and always prepared for casting, wheeled his lure over into the action.Instant spanish mackrel.Well,then our idea turned to searching out these feeding fish on top.Soon a school is just at the outer edge of Harolds casting range.With a mighty heave ho, he wheeled back.....and wrapped his lure around the vhf antenna!And man did he follow through.I saw a 7 medium action rod break into 6 pieces.He just turned around with this stunned look on his face,as the little pieces of rod slid down the line to the butt still in his hand.<br />I know,I know,I probably wouldnt believe it either.

Interesting Topic,<br /> A couple of years ago I snagged a harbour seal accidentaly while jigging for salmon. Played him for about 25 min before it snapped off. It was a pretty good fight. Last year I pulled up a 12 lb rock. That is a pretty good test of your knots!

Those are great stories.<br /><br />While fishing an inland brackish lake not really know what to expect, my husband got caught on something. He kept telling me he wasn't caught, that it was fighting him. After about 30 minutes, he pulled up a sole of a shoe. I never laughed so hard in all my life. Then he asked me to fix him "filet of sole" that night.<br /><br />Then while fishing in the gulf, I caught a seagull who was trailing our chum, it was not a pretty picture.

I don't know if that's a real picture or computer imaging. The title said it was caught out of the missouri river. Could that even be possible With two different lateral lines wouldn't the fish have a hard time staying upright let alone swimming?

While i was kicking my partners butt during a club tournament, i felt bad for him ( yea right!!) and told him to tie on a white crankbait. Sometime later he hooked what appeared to be a nice fish as his pole bent towards the water. Boy was i wrong. He actually had a fish on the front hook and one on the rear which turned out to be a three and two pound bass. It was the craziest thing i ever saw, and yes he ended up <br />barely beating me. (AWHAAA)

It's been a few years back but, I had just gotten a new 9' ugly stick for my B-day and me and my boys were going to a local lake to do some cat fishing. The boys got bored and were playing in the mud behind me a few yards back. I loaded up my hook with a really big gob of some pretty rank chicken livers and was really going to rip it out to the deeper water. Reared back to let it go and my youngest let out a blood curding howl. I had just smacked him in the middle of the forehead with those rotten chicken livers. He thought he had just been killed. After I saw the blood wasn't his, I had to lay down in the mud because I was laughing so hard. I still hear about it to this day. He keeps his distance now when I'm ready to launch another one.

HMMMM I have caught a couple rods and reels that have been pulled overboard including one of my own. A plastic bag fights like hell in a current. Crab traps w/o bouys. An old catfish trap with about 15 cats in it average was 2#. Those are the oddest things I can think of. My oddest fish was a Sea Robin man those things are weird.

Peter, you are right about those plastic bags and the fight they can put up. LOL<br /><br />When I was a kid, on a lake in the Andironacks, I was standing behind my brother on the dock, he casts out with some huge bassbuster lure which caught me in the nostril. I was 14 years old and embarrassed as hell walking into the emergency room with a huge lure hanging out my nose. And, of course it was a busy day, and mine was not an emergency so the wait was 3 hours.

I was fishing in a small lake called Armstrong lake near Crystal Falls Michigan where my family had a place for over 40 years.<br /><br />A Rock Bass nailed my spinner bait, and as I was pulling him in, a 7 lb. Northern Pike nailed him.<br /><br />So much for fish etiquet

well guys i caught a thing today. i don't know what it was. it was UGLY. looked like a cross between a scorpin fish and a toad. definantly not from this planet. if i ever run into someone who knows what it is i'll post it. however i was about 20 miles or so from the nucler plant.....maby it was some kind of secreat goverment project that escaped.
