Here's "one" of mine.

In June '08 I went to the Mario Andretti/Jeff Gordan racing
school at Chicagoland Speedway for a indy car ride, a 50th
b'day present from my gal.

She bought me a 6 lap ride at 140 mph. Due to thunderstorms
they were running behind, so when I was next in line one of
the crew said I have a question for you. Do you want to go
6 laps at 140 mph or 3 laps at 180 mph?

I hesitated about 2 sec. and said 180.

After the first lap I wasn't sure whether I was going to pass out,
puke or die. By the third lap I was ready to go ten more.:D

Re: What's The Craziest Thing You've Ever Done?

A friend and myself got robbed at gunpoint in West Baltimore in a terrible neighborhood, late at night, we chased the guy afterward, he turns around and fires at us 3 times from maybe 15 yards away, we dove behind a car. Then we decided it sounded like a cap gun so we chased him again and were pulling people's doors open yelling where is the $@^#*@. Eventually the cops came, grabbed us up and took us back to the alley where it happened. The cops find .32 shells on the ground, unspent, they must of fell from his pocket.
Yeah, that woke us up, my friend started shaking and almost crying.
we were 16.
That was the first of many crazy times between them and when I was 22, I was involved in some really crazy stuff for 5-6 years.

Re: What's The Craziest Thing You've Ever Done?

When i was 18, I bought a 2003 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R (637cc). 130 hp to the rear wheel, and the bike weighed under 400 pounds. It had a digital speedometer and I wanted to know how fast the bike went. Late one night, I took the bike out to the longest straight stretch of road. I pinned the throttle open and watched the speedo climb. 120 mph, 140 mph, 160 mph, 170 mph, and topped out at 179 mph. There was so much wind pressure at that speed, it was like nothing i have ever expirenced.

The next morning i got up to take the bike for a ride, and looked at my rear tire. There was NO TREAD left at all, all i could see was a 2" wide strip of white steel bands. So what did i do? I rode the bike 10 miles to dealer to have a new tire put on.

Other crazy things i did on that bike:

1. Out ran the cops (3 times, never got caught)
2. Rode wheelies down the freeway at 80 mph
3. Raced a Dodge Viper at 150mph down the freeway
4. Crashed it 3 times and would put it back together

That bike got me in so much trouble, and I am very lucky to be alive. Over the last 4 years my driving/riding has been tuned WAY down. Funny how getting married and having 2 kids puts a new perspective on life.

Re: What's The Craziest Thing You've Ever Done?

Went on a motorcycle trip about 10 years ago and got flagged down by four other guys on bikes from the side of the road. They asked where I was going and I told them SportBike West which is a big sport bike rally in Western Canada. They said the more the merrier and asked if I'd ride along.

We rode 120 mph most of the way. I went to pay for my gas and what not and the guys said your money is no good here and paid for everything for the rest of the trip. I caught on when they paid from wads of 50's and hundreds combined with the every square inch tattoed theme. It turns out these guys were the leadership of the Crazy Dragons gang over here. I talked to them about it and they said we need vacations too. Very respectful guys to the waitresses with "yes ma'am no ma'am kind of stuff" I'm sure they've killed as many people as they were nice to as well. I think they wanted me to ride along as these guys by themselves attract to much attention. They told me if we get pulled over to say that I don't know any of them...which was the truth.

Checked into a hotel in Banff, went to a bar after one of them checked in with the local RCMP first. We went to a local bar and I bought 5 drinks from the waitress at the door and pased them to them. They filled 2 4x8 tables full of drinks and talked to every woman in the place. I asked the hot bartender chick "which one of my sons looks the most like me as I was older...2 Vietnamese guys and two caucasions. :) Went to a restaurant with all the waitresses after and one says to the other "he said he loved me too". One of the guys turns to me and say "I knew that was going to blow up in my face" and we laugh.

Get back to the hotel late and get back in the room and there is a knock on the door. I answer it and there is about 10 security type guys there. I tell them the kids are just getting to sleep and they'll be good so they take off.

Rode to BC, one motorcycle crash by one of the guys that tagged along at 100 mph, almost hit a porcupine at 100+, went to a the Shambala rave by Nelson BC and hung out for two more days and then I bailed on them. Much too crazy for me to sustain that kind of life plus I wanted to get to the rally.

Back to my family and work the following week. Sold thge bike lasy year as I didn't want to give the idea to my kids that fast bikes are cool. Bought a boat to restore as it's much more expensive a hobby but also much safer as well.

Re: What's The Craziest Thing You've Ever Done?

The pic in my avatar is one of them.

That's me bungee jumping off a 200' bridge in SW Washington (www.bungee.com, click on Pacific Northwest Bridge for info). It was the weirdest, most intense feeling. Jumoed twice, second time was backward (pic).
I'm guessing that's also what Steve Riddell did.

Had a motorcycle when I was 20 living in Northern Idaho. I had no money, but the bike had a slow leak in the rear tire. I worked in Spokane on the weekends (60 miles I think), and would ride that thing on the freeway with a flat rear tire... at close to highway speeds. Still not sure how I never wrecked or ended up on the rim.

Wrecked another bike in San Diego after a beach party. Went into an exit ramp at about 110, and couldn't make the curve. Smacked the left side curb, and went flying. Luckily, I landed in soft dirt, and had layers of clothing (leather jacket, sweatshirt, shirt, t-shirt, jeans and longjohns) on as it was January. Tore through all the upper clothing, and had scratches all over my chest, but otherwise I was fine. Lost a boot though. Then me and a friend (who pulled up about 5 minutes later), tried to put the bike (Honda 750) into the trunk of his '82 Monte Carlo. Ended up leaving it there.

There are others, and dumber, but I'll stop here. :D

Re: What's The Craziest Thing You've Ever Done?

While maintenance supervisor at a large factory I went into a burning room (alone) containing 45 gallon drums of volatile solvents (some open) to fight the fire while others evacuated about 600 people from the plant. I figured that I wouldn't have time to run clear if it went up so I might as well fight it. I had the fire out before the fire department got there.

I am cool in an emergency and fall apart afterwards

A girl once told me if I danced naked on top of the Burger King roof she would go out with me.

We were married for 3 years, before some other girl dared me to do something else. :)

Re: What's The Craziest Thing You've Ever Done?

I'm not sure how crazy this was but about 15 years or so ago I was fired from my job.

My boss was AAA personality and very difficult. He was also a verbal abuser who would scream and yell, throw things and bascially try to intimidate people every chance he got.

One day, I'd had enough, I told him "you aren't a patch in a man's ***** if you continue to scream at me and don't fire me." I know, it wasn't smart and I really needed my job at the time. I immediatley left the job.

The next day I went back into work and he asked me WTH I was doing there. I told him I knew he had a hot temper but that I also knew how much he need me. He walked into his office slammed the door screaming all sorts of expletives.

I continued going into work everyday for the next year and every morning when he came in, I smiled and said "good morning, how are you today?" he'd asked "didn't I fire you? I don't know how to get rid of you." LOL

Eventually, I quit my job with him just to keep my sanity. He called me for a month straight, offered me more money ($10,000 a year more), a 4 day work week, conned me with shrimp, oysters, his homemade pate, etc. (he was an incredible cook.) Finally, I went back to work for him on my terms and stayed another 2 years, until I found something else.

As far as dangerous crazy, I did push myself off the back of my motorcycle doing about 65 mph when I got caught in a cross wind to avoid losing a leg to a W-Beam or worse. I ended up with a lot of road rash, a seperated shoulder and a sprained ankle and the tractor trailer following me jack-knifed to avoid running over me. That was a day I will never forget. Mr. LF was running along side me and looked back and saw me mid-air. I don't think he'll forget that day either.

Re: What's The Craziest Thing You've Ever Done?

i've had a charmed and somewhat insane lifestyle for many years. my normal screen name is wildchild and it was given to me by a 21 year old guy who was screaming at the top of his lungs because of riding in my car. LOL

one of my thrill rides involved drag racing in a blizzard, I won the race but the snow got the better of the traction in the end. took a tree at 85 MPH in the chief of police's front yard. tree still bears the scars 25 years later.
motor went to the firewall, tranny out the bottom of the car, bumper ends met on the other side of the tree. windshield smashed car totalled.
went to get my stereo the next day, yep I walked away, the guy at the shop that towed the car looked at me and said. bet if that guy hadn't died in that car you'd be po'd at him for doing that to your ride. he never did believe me when I said I was driving.
my dad parked in front of the car and then asked me where my car was. must be at a different shop. never seen that look on his face before or since when I told him the pile of crap he parked by was my car.
worst part was my cousin had died two weeks earlier in a wreck almost identical to this one. my aunt never talked to me again after my wreck. only thing she ever said was how did you live and steve didn't.

Re: What's The Craziest Thing You've Ever Done?

Built a 7 foot 3 point hydro in high school and added the special braces on the transom to take up to a 45hp never had time to finish it so no keel....took it up to the lake and put a 50 Merc on it ....I was crazy to get it out on the water that day...there was lots of chop and white caps..no problem put it in and started out at about 1/4 throttle I hit the first white cap went down the wave and into the next wave....it shot me out like a cork backwards about 15 fet ...the motor howled I got my shaking under control and idled back to dock....only used on calm days after....Now bikes too many stories to even start

145 MPH (speedo) in 1 of my 70 Road Runners, on a country road. 165 MPH (again speedo) on buddy's Suzuki motorcycle, same road several years later. The scary part is the bike had a 180 MPH Speedo and if I had the ba!!'s I think the bike would have topped it. Then there was the 100 MPH plus blast in a jet boat. That one tightened the ole sphincter muscle!!:D:D

When I was 30, my wife and I quit our jobs, sold our cars, sold our house and most of our 'stuff'....left our city with a back pack each and a plane ticket to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia with a return ticket one year later.

Spent the next 12 months to the day....ummm, walking around....tons of stories and adventures...at the top (literally) was 35 days trekking in the Himalayas' visiting Everest base camp.

I think that is great and far from crazy I could only wish I had that for an experience. My hat is off to you both.
