Vancouver needs to tighten up the back end real quick or they won't be playing much longer. Way to may shots getting on net with traffic in front. I thought Loungo did a great interview after the game though, didn't call anyone out and took the blame although it wasn't really his to take.
With regards to Detroit, I couldn't agree more with your observations on many of the "fans" at the games. It seems to be some sort of regional attitude that being overly abusive and aggressive with fans of other teams is acceptable. Doesn't matter if it's pro or college sports either, I don't understand the mentally but it does seem to exist. So no worries on any offending me, I'm often embarrassed by the behavior around here.
As far as safety in and around the Joe, Detroit, unlike most major cities, is not really designed for walking or "visiting" the city when you are in for any event. Generally you park right near the arena and are in and out with little hassle other than beggars and traffic. Not to mention, the Joe is an island in the city, that meaning there is very little around it that is worth visiting. Hopefully a new stadium will be coming soon to change that.
