Australia in the summer. Hmmmm.

be careful of what you you wish for,

one end of the joint ( Qld ) is being washed away after half a metre of rain in one day,

the other end ( Tas ) is slowly being consumed by bushfires ( fortunately only a few houses have been lost atm )

everywhere in between...and including those areas... is in drought mode...millions of fish deaths in inland rivers,

Donated stock feed convoys running all over the country trying to save family properties,

Hobart, the capital city of Tasmania ( where l live ) is on par to have it's lowest recorded rainfall EVER in January
this is regarded as the cold wet state,
The rainfall on the tas east coast ( g'day ) for jan is at .03 mils atm...normal jan avg is around 50 mils
( 2 in )
it did rain overnight...briefly.

the whole oz east coast is buggered atm lol
dunno whats happening in the middle or over in the west other than it's been stinking hot

some places have been pushing 50 degs Celsius

don't start me on the native beasties...bunyips, hoop snakes, drop bears, tassie tigers, yowies and worst of all, Sydney residents...just to name a few

Note the hood on their coat? I had to hunt through the house to see if I had a knit cap or something like that for my ears. I haven't had deal with negative temperatures in over a decade :)

For context: the greater Nashville area had school closings to day because we had 1) snow flurries (no kidding, there's not really even an appreciable dusting on the ground), and 2) temps in the high 20s. :baby: :smow: :baby:

The worst is over, it's only -16 right now snd the temps are supposed to rise after midnite. Suppose to stay above zero all day and nite tomorrow. Time to get back on the sled!

Finally got up to -4 here with no wc effect. Boiler is finally able to keep the temps up in the house without having to run the fireplace to assist. Suppose to be +17 tomorrow then 3 days of 40's !

All midwesterners can blame me for this past week. I tempted mother nature with my original post and she has gotten her revenge on us. I saw the temperature slowly climb above 0F for the first time here in the past week. -20s with windchills in the -50 range the past couple of days. Internet was slow at work. Called provider and they are having issues everywhere. The temperature swings are causing their connections to expand and contract and loosen. We went around and tightened all the connections around the building and outside that we could reach, that did the trick. Oldrem, same weather as you. I am not far from you at all.

I remember as a kid when ours froze a 5 gal bucket, it actually was a milk can, became our toilet. Great times going outside and dumping it in the woods...
