Re: What do you pull your boat with?

I use an oldie but a goodie to pull my 1987 Beachcraft 215c which weighs in around 4500 lbs with trailer and gear. Not TOO old I guess.

1999 Ford F-250
Standard cab
7.3L turbo diesel
6-speed manual trans

I think the only option this truck has is cruise control which is nice. It has a bench seat that is as UN-comfortable as all get out but is ok for trips less than about 2 hours. Hand crank windows. Even came with an AM only radio.

The only upgrades I would like to do are the seats, and side mirrors. I already put in a different radio that has AM/FM and a cd player (found a factory radio for $50).

I have traveled to some of lakes here in California where we have to contend with the Sierra Nevada mountains. There have been only a couple of places where I have had to downshift out of 5th gear to 4th (the forward gears on the shifter are labeled L and then 1-5 with L being the compound and 5th being an overdrive). Nice.

Here's one of mine all shined up. 2003 Expedition XLT, 2WD, tow pkg/special service vehicle pkg. For the first 115,000 miles of its life it was a patrol vehicle for a local police department.

And a shot of the truck and boat together. The boat is a 1986 Wellcraft 185 Elite. Not the best shot of the combo but it's all I have right now.

I'm hoping my 85 Nissan 720 pickup can tow my 1990 Bass Tracker Pro 17 without problem (4Cyl). Should be fairly light. I'm getting a reciever welded to the aftermarket bumper tomarrow. Bumper is rated to 8000 LBS gross and 800 LBS tongue weight, much more than the truck will move. If this doesn't work I really need to hit the lottery!

Well, until I build a trailer she goes on the top.

Pretty bad for buffeting at 50 mph! The boat is a giant air scoop and I rekon it blows about 18,000 cfm at 55 mph. But you don't have to worry about your hat staying on as it is forced down hard on your head! ;)

We pull either our 15' seanymph or 22 starcraft islander with a 99 F350 superduty with the 7.3 powerstroke. No problems even pulling my friends 28 bayliner sunbridge.

I pull my 1997 Four Winns 205 Sundowner with my 2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 DBL Cab 4x4. I def. know its back there but it gets the job done. It would be nice to have a little more HP on the hills here in KY but usually my trips are only about 3 miles down to the river.

Here is mine. It is a 1999 Mercedes ML 320. My boat and trailer dosen't weigh much you really can hardly tell its back there. The AWD is great on the slick ramps. I love it. :)
