We are seeing temps in the 40's at nite now in upstate NY. Loosing a degree each nite now in the lake. Lake peaked this summer at 84. Last I looked it was 73. Pulling the ski boat out this sunday (9-16) and launching the runabout till we get ice. Can ski behind the runabout if need be. It was our full time family ski boat from 1970 till 2003.

Got an ice cream headache and really chilled with shortie yesterday. So broke out the drysuit this morning. Water in the high 60s still. By the third run around 8:00 the sun was up and I was really too warm. Oh well.

I passed 60 days of skiing this week and we should be at it for another 6 weeks at least. Skied 11 days in October last year.

You guys are freezing me to death! Anything below 80 water temp is just crazy talk.

Where are you skiing? Prior Lake is still 74 degrees if the guage in the boat was correct or maybe he said 64? -but it felt ok in the short suit. Air temp was 52.

My father inlaw skis 5-7 days a week normally but his ski buddies start to fall off this time of year. Then he's got a month off before moving back down to FL for the winter (on a ski lake) ;)

Bryant Lake in EP.
Surface water temp was 61/62 when we first went out yesterday. After a couple passes of mixing it up it leveled out at 69 degrees.
Combination of a couple of friends who trailer and three buddies who live on the lake.

Cool - Never skied there but we used to go to the beach there when the kids were little. Used to live in EP, now in Victoria.

Still shot from the gopro this morning

Had no idea you guys were that close skibrain and oldjeep. I was out last Wednesday evening and FROZE with my barefoot suit and a heater shirt. I think it's time to bust out the drysuit for me too. I hate being cold.

We typically ski in New Brighton right now. My usual ski lake has been no wake all summer due to construction.

Oldjeep, you familiar with TLE IV in New Germany? We have some of our tourneys there. Pretty close to home for you!

Wakeboarder friend of mine uses the cable park there, I've never been there. We were skiing/boarding in Lake Minnetonka yesterday and the water there was a lot colder than Prior Lake.

Cable park is no longer there. Moved to Isanti. I know the guy who runs it. I don't board, though...just foot and occasionally strap on a slalom ski or a pair of trick skis.

After some warm daytime highs over the weekend, it was beautiful last evening with a heater shirt. Probably my favorite time of year is when the water temp 69-72 range. I have no proof, but I think cool/cold water skis better. :)

Video from yesterday - don't laugh too hard, I just do this for fun. Its all I can do to keep my hands in the right position most days ;)

Looks like you were having a blast there oldjeep. Man I'm jealous of the glass and lack of other boats.

If you don't mind a suggestion, on the wake crossings, try to get your shoulders back which will bring your hips up to the handle. That way you are using your whole body for leverage. Keep that ski on edge.

Again, I'm really jealous though. I live 70 miles from the coast so it's usually windy and there is almost always some wind induced chop when I ski. Watching your video I thought I could feel the glide of the ski.

Then again, being in SE Texas it's at least another month and a half or more till wetsuit season.

Glad I live in central Illinois and boat on a "heated" lake. High in the mid 70's still and the lake is roughly 90-94 degrees by the heater outlet.
I bet you are all jealous! :D
Too bad I am just now almost done working on my boat after breaking the gimbal ring in mid June. (Maybe 2-3 more trips if I'm lucky this year)

90-94? So does the water boil in the summer?

You wouldn't be the first to tell me to get my shoulders back ;) Spend all summer trying to lean back and all winter trying to get forward. Can't imagine 90+ degree water, that doesn't sound refreshing unless the air temp is below 60

I guess I jinxed myself. It's supposed to get down into the 50s over the next few nights but the daytime highs are still going to be in the upper 80s. Upper 40s to low 50s is what we usually have during mid winter.

I have been hesitant to post that I ran the course with no wet suite last weekend, in beautiful weather to not jinx myself too. Now cool fall weather is here too! I still think I will get out again, though.
