Hello... I just wanted to post this if anyone is curious... If you are on the west coast I found a very affordable fiberglass supply I'm not affiliated with them but I really like their pricing. Full roll of 1.5oz CSS 100lb 50" wide is 1.53 a pound... One roll of 1708 205lb is 2.54 a lb so it would be roughly 550 for roll... As for resin it's 1.94 a lb an the 5 gallon buckets are 50lb... So If you are serious about doing a rebuild I think this is a better option because if u are close to one of their warehouses u can save on hazmat charges and shipping.
... Arlington wa for me but they got some in Cali and Vancouver wa too.. Compositesone on googl... Hope this helps some of you ! As far as how much resin u may need from the restores on iboats such as oops and frisco an others it looks like 10-15 gallons if not more for 14-20ft boat restorations . Giterdone

Re: West coast fiberglass supplies

UPDATE!
I received my email from Composites one yesterday with direct quotes for the items i was looking at! I was helping 93Bayliner1800 with this, and hopefully this can assist some of you. Good luck in your search for better pricing on material :)

Here are the quotes i got from one of the reps in my email:

(1.5oz Chopstrand) - 1.5 x 50" chop strand mat 100/lbs approx roll $1.53/lb = Appx. $153.00
COMPARABLE TO USCOMPOSITES:
1(1.5oz Chopstrand) - 1.5 x 50" chop strand mat 80/yds approx roll $2.90/yd = Appx. $230.00

(1708) - EBXMC1708 x 50" biax 209/lbs approx roll $2.51/lb = Appx. $524.59
COMPARABLE TO USCOMPOSITES:
(1708) - DBM 1708 x 50" biax 205/lbs approx roll $2.94/lb = Appx. $602.70

Polyester house resin 5 gallon pail approx 50lb $2.10/lb = $105.00 no hazmat charges on pickup
COMPARABLE TO USCOMPOSITES:
General Purpose resin 5 gallon pail $107.50 plus hazmat charges

Vinyl Ester Resin 5 gallon pail approx 50lb $2.05/lb = $102.50 no hazmat charges on pickup
COMPARABLE TO USCOMPOSITES:
700 Vinyl Ester Resin 5 gallon pail $179.50 plus hazmat charges

This is the only thing i think would be better to order from US COMPOSITES:

USCOMPOSITES: 1/4 Chop strand milled fibers (for peanut butter) 10lb Bag = $26.00
COMPOSITE ONE: Does not carry 1/4 Milled fiber. They do have 1/32 milled fibers but they sell in 50 pound backs for 2.25 a pound. so the 1/4 chopped fibers will be a better purchase at USCOMPOSITES/

Cabosil 10lb bags $3.82/lb = $38.20
COMPARED TO US COMPOSITES:
Cabosil 10lb Bag = $67.00

(By the way 10lb bag is ALOT!!! there it is about the size of a large sack of wheats for the horses)
So it may be a better option to buy the 4Gallon bucket (1.7lb) from US COMPOSITES at $22.25/

Acetone 33lb pail 1.56/lb (Appx. 5 gallons of ACETONE according to math below) = $51.48 (About 10.30 a gallon)
COMPARED TO YOUR LOCAL HARDWARE STORES:
1 Gallon of Acetone @ Home Depot = ~$17.00 a gallon
1 Gallon of Acetone @ Lowes = ~17.00 a gallon
5 Gallon of Acetone @ Ace = $79.99 a 5 gallon pail

(Acetone weighs 48.9797293 pounds per cubic foot. Therefore, one U.S. gallon weighs 6.5478787 pounds.)

So from you can see shopping locally with Compositesone is a great way to go. Roughly by my calculation and my quote from above you save:
~872 including the 1.5oz csm, 1708, gen. purpose resin, cabosil, acetone @ COMPOSITESONE
~1092 including the 1.5oz csm, 1708, gen purpose resin, cabosil, acetone from department store @ USCOMPOSITES

~869 including the 1.5oz csm, 1708,vinylester resin, cabosil, acetone @ COMPOSITESONE
~1164 including the 1.5oz csm, 1708, vinylester resin, cabosil, acetone from department store @ USCOMPOSITES

Above Estimates Do not include the Chopped Fibers which i recommend to by from USCOMPOSITES.
Also the Above Estimates do not Include Shipping or Hazmat Charges for USCOMPOSITES which would probably be another 200+ if not more....

This option might or might not be best for everyone as COMPOSITESONE has lots of locations but if you do not have a location within a few hours of your location than you will have to make the call and figure out which way to go is best for you. Be sure to get good quotes, and emails with the quotes so no one tries to raise the price.

Contact Information for Both:
USCOMPOSITES : 1-561-588-1001
info@uscomposites.com
www.uscomposites.com

COMPOSITESONE: 1-800-621-8003
information@compositesone.com
www.compositesone.com

I am in no way affiliated nor do i receive compensation for informing people of Compositesone. I just found them when searching google for the nearest Fiberglass Supply Company since the closest one to me was going out of business.
Found them and was really astonished about thier prices.

You can go to thier website and under CONTACT US look under Locations and see if there is a location near you.
They will let you come down to thier factory and you can look through items and supply at thier warehouses.
You can also purches items such as buckets, chip brushes etc! it may be the best choice for you, or it may be better to go the route of shipment!!

IF you dont have a Compositesone near you, call them and ask them about prices for shipping and hazmat charges.
Good luck :)

Re: West coast fiberglass supplies

This is great info, I live across from you in Lake Stevens, and I would much rather be able to go pick up all the stuff I need vs waiting for it to get here. I'm getting ready to buy all my stuff and it looks like you may have just saved me a couple hundred bucks. Thank you sir.

Re: West coast fiberglass supplies

Glad I could help!! i was sure glad when i found out they were so close and appearently they like to position themselves next to all of the big boat building companies (arlington wa, was bayliners original home) so i wonder if they are the official supplier for Bayliner? or were....
Also i probably should have mentioned this and i am sorry if this wont work for you but they dont cut rolls. They will sell full rolls only. cuz i asked if i could get 50 yards of 1708 they said we only sell full rolls....
and they do alot of thier stuff by pounds. which is why i think they are the official supplier for the bigger boat firms . anyhow. Glad i could help :)

Re: West coast fiberglass supplies

yup :) but i figure i can buy whole rolls of each because if i dont use it all up, than i will have motivation to experiment and makes stuff out of fiberglass .. like make a mold for a Laundry Sink than sell them on craigslist ... that or pick up another boat project when im done with this one. time will tell

Re: West coast fiberglass supplies

If you end up buying full rolls and end up with extra, let me know and I'll buy some cause i'm sure as hell not buying full rolls. I only need 10 yards of 1708 and 25 yards of CSM.

And my father in law has a couple houses on flowing lake.. we're out there all the time.
