True dat. Most cases, and almost always with a tiller, the motor swings hard to one side and the boat circles back to the scene. Simple, but deadly, geometry.
Norowing I'm very sorry about your experience. Any of us who have been around the water long enough have had sad and sobering experiences. There are serious risks from start to finish in the boating process and too many people approach it on the assumption that risks are slight, the equipment is harmless and accidents unusual.
