Warped hull. what to do?

Hello everyone, this is my first post on here and had recently bought my first boat to restore.
i ended up having to redo the transom and floors so i took the top cap of my boat. 2 weeks later i was ready to put everything back together but had a real pain butting the cap on. found that the transom was a little too thick so i ended up chizzeling a bit off to make it fit. once it was down to size and i was able to squeeze all the sides back in i realized that the front of the cap sticks out about an inch and a half over the bottom. seems like my hull got shorter lol. is there anything i can do or should i just fill it with fiberglass and call it a lesson learned? :facepalm:

When you did the transom did you check the angle?

yes the angle of the transom was good, just too thick. old transom was really bad so didn't get to measure thickness.

the hull might have ge straightot tweaked and now is in the shape of a banana and it should be st just a thought, how well did you ahve it supported when working on it.

Is your trailer a Bunk Trailer or a Roller Trailer?

Usually Bunk trailers will offer adequate support with some additional bracing. From the sound of it, your boat flexed and moved during the process of removing and adding the stringers, deck and transom. Did you take original measurements and then constantly check the new measurements to ensure everything was going back the same as before?

no unfortunately i did not. not a lot to measure. mostly everything was foam with fiberglass reinforcement. no wooden stringers. the only wood was the deck and the transom that was mostly not there. first boat project and learning a lot.

just a thought... if i flip the boat upside down on a flat surface while reinforcing the sides so they dont bow out, do you think it would take a little of its shape back?

the sides aren't pushed in all the way under here but the front of the boat, you can see how the top is about an inch longer than the bottom. if we really try to squeeze it in, we can come as close as a half inch. im almost to the point where i say screw it and just put fiberglass on the tip to make it reach. hopefully there is an alternative.

Nylon straps!!! Strap the boat and tighten em down. It should pull it into shape and allow the cap to drop down onto the hull. Once it does a few screws at various locations and you should be able to loosen the straps and pull em free.

the sides went out the boat got shorter.
Try woodenglass idea first the problem you might find is that the straps may have to go between the bunks and the boat.
if that isnt working you can try this get some 2x4 soft pine (cheap white wood as it tends to bend which is good) then get some one to hold it about 3" down from the side of the boat and temp strap it (4" side to boat). repeat on the other side then take a couple of cheap straps, cut them and screw the cut ends it into the wood with short screws on both sides then pull the straps together at the back then repeat at the front. when tightened the wood will start to push the sides in (you may have to cut some legs to stop the wood sliding down the hull) Do not go nuts as the wood need time to bow a little to the shape of the hull. As the sides come in the boat will get longer and it might start to rise off the bunks at the front of the trailer, if it does then move the winch point forwards or boat backwards if possible to allow the boat to settle back on the bunks (this is proberbly how the boat got bent in the first place when the cap was removed).

did you just strap from side to side over the boat then down to the trailer?

Typically if you strap Port to Starboard (Side to side) the boat will get skinnier and Longer. If you strap fore and aft (Front to Back) the boat will get wider and shorter. Depending on what needs to be done will determine how and where you strap.
