Re: Waiting for the Daytona 500 . . .

We all know you don't like NASCAR, so don't watch and make comments because it's not something you like. There are plenty of other channels on the TV.

You are mistaken, Sir. My comment was on the wait. Nothing to do with my opinion of NASCAR. May I remind you that I drove NASCAR in my youth.

When they do this race, I will watch with interest.

Looks like rain again today. That front must have stalled.

Yes, Kyle Bush did a remarkable job, just what you expect from him. Danica is going to be fun to watch.....and Wendy Venturini is pleasing to the eyes and ears.

Looks wet now, but a window to the west. I guess we'll see.

Re: Waiting for the Daytona 500 . . .

I see most of the moisture is north of Daytona, but, it looks like Daytona is probably getting their fair share. It takes about 2 hours to dry the track once the rain stops. By that time, the rain on the otherside of that window may arrive. May take all day to get it in, time will tell.

Sure, Shrubby is a good driver still can't pull for him. Will be keeping an eye on J Burton all day.

Only saw part of the Nationwide race. Too bad Danica was spun by her own teammate..... Jr couldn't have been very happy.....

Agree on both points, but you can't watch Kyle and not be amazed. The #31 sure looked strong in the Duel. RCR is always good with the plates, and Burton has been very close before. We'll see.

Yep, RCR likes plates. Been to 'Dega and watched Burton many times up front only to fall short and not close the deal for whatever reason. Getting caught up in a wreck is one. Maybe today will be the day.

Word from NASCAR - Noon has turned to 7 PM for the revised, revised start of the 500.

EDIT - sorry QC, you got in as I was viewing Daytona radar while I was posting. 7 may be optimistic from the looks of things.

Re: Waiting for the Daytona 500 . . .

Notice how DW is a fan of Kyle? I haven't heard DW so excited when KB pulled that race out of his hat since Mikey won the Daytona. They both have simular styles off the track when DW was young. I was never a fan of DW in his younger years....but as time went on, understanding where he comes from....what he did for NASCAR...I became a fan. This may hold true for KB...in my book.

Looks as if 7PM may be good.

NASCAR needs Kyle. They will continue to show him who's boss, and I could see a sponsor getting sick of him, but he has been on TV all weekend in Toyota adds. I hate to admit it, but I believe he is the most talented driver in the garage today. If he isn't, name who is. Whether it is restarts, getting on/off pit road, saves, heck even road courses, the guy is amazing.

I have to agree, QC. I watched him spin twice and noticed how calm and collected he was with his wheeling that thing back from being sideways. Didn't get excited and oversteer. Only a few drivers....ever...who could have handled that situation the way he did. If he keeps his attitude to himself this year, I may even become a fan. Heck, Jimmy Spencer and Swervin' Ervin eventually won me over!

Re: Waiting for the Daytona 500 . . .

I am going to clarify "driver". I am suggesting that Kyle is the most talented pure driver. There are better "participants" as NASCAR requires that you make it through a whole season to win Championships. Also, Sponsor dollars, appearances, TV all matter, and Kyle is way to immature to be considered the best. I am not sure who I would consider the best all around participant including, driving, fans, sponsors etc. I guess that has to be Jimmy Johnson? Jr. is a major force to be reckoned with, but the driving jury is still out for sure. You've also got to be a Team cheerleader. Hmmmm . . . Jimmy Johnson still seems like the best all around, with an honorable mention to Jeff Gordon. I'd say Stewart, but what he did to Darian Grubb last year makes me kind of hate the guy, so we'll see on that one.

Re: Waiting for the Daytona 500 . . .

First off, THIS SUCKS, I'm hoping for a start tomorrow morning.

Second, I don't disagree that that Busch's are talented drivers, but were not talking about pure driving skill at Daytona, its about team work, I scratch your back you scratch mine, its a plate race you CANNOT win by yourself, and that is not a good thing for the brothers, they keep making enemies, this is NASCAR and I think that the more we go on and these two keep peeing people off were likely to see something like in 1979, which isn't a bad thing to me but you know what I am saying, the clear wrecking of another driver, a Punt at 200 MPH, it doesn't matter how good a driver you are, your no better then an 80 yr old AARP little ole lady if someone gets under your rear end.

Welcome to the Big Show, and that is why I love NASCAR Racing, They still fixing things behind the woodshed every once in awhile

Re: Waiting for the Daytona 500 . . .

KyBu is a talent and a tool at the same time. It is a shame he can't grow up and put it all together. If Gibbs can't teach him, I don't know who can????? Gibbs made a world of difference with Stewart. He took the raw talent and quick tempered jerk and worked with him to where he is a force to be reckoned with both on the track and in the board room. His handling of Grubb was interesting to say the least. I wonder what all was happening behind the scenes. Just don't know. Why didn't the team turn it around till AFTER Smoke told Grubb he was gone at the end of the year???? We will know how smart of a move on Smoke's part is was at the end of this year. As you said, QC, the jury is still out.

Edwards did well for himself in the top participant category last year, also. Between Edwards, Smoke, Jimmy, and Jeffy, I am not sure who to put at the top.
