If the Tach is causing the motor to miss then the ECM might think something else is happening

Wait a second- The temp gauge wouldn't cause ECM to go nutty but a tach would?

The temprature gauge most likely has no wiring/component association with the ecm

Just checked no difference. Pulled off the

Well oddly enough I’m sitting at the dock and now the OTHER engine is running rough idle and the original is smooth. I swapped the coil from one engine to another, no difference.

Temp good, oil good. I think it might just be older gas. It runs well then kind of jumps a bit. I’m running it down right now and I’ll head to the marina to fuel up with some 93

Didn’t know that! They only seem to have 89 but I’ll go lower octane then. Again, Ty for your guidance as it’s greatly appreciated

So I pretty much ran the engine there at the dock. I think the fuel is so bad in it it just eventually stopped sputtering and running when I got down to a quarter tank. Debating whether or not to drain it first or get some fresh stuff in there.

When I changed filter the other day it smelled okay, looked clear. IDK if it was bc of the oooold fuel and sea foam or other additives they used to winterize.

Oh I forgot I put STARBRITE in the engine prob when I didnt have to and it clogs filters. Gonna replace it tomorrow and hope my engine doesnt explore
