Re: Using my Lund in Salt Water
As Robert suggested:
salt water does not harm outboards. Flushing may be helpful but it is not crucial.
It does not harm the hulls of boats. Salt water, and worse, salt air, will, over time, affect electrical connections and fittings that are not marine fittings, as well as non-marine or low quality gear like tools, tackle, etc. White lithium grease is a good solution, as stated, as is rinsing with fresh water.
It's tough on trailers. Try to launch/retrieve without getting the axle in the water. Unplug your lights. Don't use a steel trailer more than a couple times.
Someone here said that additives such as salt-away flush your wallet better than the motor.
