Yup, I could buy the rebuild parts for same or even more $$$ than a whole new unit from DB Electrical. Much of the stuff they sell is made by Arrowhead Electonics . . . probably origniates from China, so we shall see how it holds up. As I said, I've had good luck with some of their other stuff.

I can't remember . . . Oh wait a minute, . . . yes.

The testing method points to the pump as being the issue. So, I ordered a new pump, given that I don't have time to re-build the current pump, etc.

I just got a shipping confirmation on the order for the pump. It shipped from Brockton, MA :thumb: I should have it by tomorrow. I was worried that it was coming from the West Coast of USA and would take 5-7 days, and not get here until next week.

I should be able to install the new pump on Saturday . . . my launch is scheduled for Sunday at 11:00 am.

I got the new pump today. So, I should be all set to install it on Saturday and test it out, etc.



My boat will be moored in fairly shallow water . . . about 3 feet at low tide. So, I hope the outdrives will stay up in their 'trailer' position when the boat is moored . . . otherwise the lower part of the outdrive will probably end up in the mud

DB Electrical . . . it was around $200.

I've bought some alternators and starters from them in the past, with good results. Much of their product line comes from Arrowhead Electrical Products, which does a lot of OEM equivalent components.

UPDATE:

I put the new trim pump in today . . .

Pulled the old pump . . . lots of rust around the base of the mounting bracket.



So, I had to do a bit of rust removal and repainting of the bracket. Here is the pump installed.



I am testing the system overnight to see if the outdrive goes down at all.

Yeah, but I got smart this time... Went direct to the Parker-Oildyne agents and only paid $61.. I know, you guys in the US would only be paying about $15 for that... :facepalm:...

TESTING RESULTS:

I set the outdrive at its 'operating trim stop' position yesterday after installing the new pump and exercising the air out of the lines, etc. Then I took a measurement of the ram extension (21 5/8")

This morning I re-checked the ram extension distance and it had not changed overnight.


OMG . . . it looks like I fixed it !!! :thumb:

the boat is scheduled to be launched today, but the weather/wind/wave forecast may delay that . . .

UPDATE:

It has been a week now and the outdrive has held its position where I left it last weekend. So, I think its good to go.

Launching is tomorrow (Saturday) . . .
