Looks to me like the meter is charging a circuit or capacitor in the transducer and it's powering up slightly consuming more power the circuit discharges and the numbers your seeing are is the impedance of the circuit as it charges and discharges.

Whats the point? I don't think the transducer is resistive, it's an electronic component.

The trim sender is a resistance device just like a fuel gauge. It is not an electronic device and no capacitors are involved. Did you have the send wire at the gauge disconnected when you made this measurement? If not, you have a parallel circuit which affects the readings. Disconnect the send wire either at the gauge or the sender and measure resistance again. Remove the sender and operate it manually so the jerkiness of the engine going up and down doesn't affect the reading.

Its a a sender...a resistive device. There are no capacitors or active components. Its also not a transponder!!!

The sender is bad. You need to replace it. That's a pretty standard way that they fail.

I had the multimeter connected to the end of the brown and white sender wire from the sending unit, and to a ground. The Sender wire was completely unhooked from everything but the alligator clip to the meter.

I don't think you can even call a transducer a transponder.

Maybe you aren't measuring this correctly. How many wires does this sender have? If only 2, you just measure the resistance across the two wires with these 2 wires not connected to anything....no connections to ground. If there are 3 measuring across 2 will get a resistance that does not change and across any of the other combos, you will get a varying resistance. Basically, the sender is a potentiometer with one of the wires connected to the wiper.

Transducer
A transducer is a vibratory electro-mechanical device capable of transforming electrical energy into mechanical or acoustic energy or the opposite. Seriously, no offense, but what does this have to do with my topic? I can understand you trying to redeem yourself, but can you do it somewhere else? Most likely the guy your arguing with won't even be back to this topic to admire your supreme knowledge, but man, I really need help with the question Ive asked. I haven't had but 1 bite that was anything to do with my thread. I'm in a jam here, and at the cost of 150$ for a discontinued unit(and they only have 1 left), I really need some expert advice!

!st disconnect the gauge. Then the wiring at the sender.

If you hook up a meter and move it throughout it's range the meters values should smoothly increase and decrease. If its works like that try it with the meter at the gauge with the wiring disconnected.

If at the gauge the meter still moves smoothly it's a bad gauge most likely.

This is a video of a resistance test on the Trim Sender Output wire at the gauge, to ground. I also tested at the Sending unit itself, but forgot to record the video. It doesn't matter though cause the readings were the same. It looks to jumpy to me, BUT it does seem to kinda work. HOWEVER when the gauge is hooked up, it either reads FULL TILT, or at the number "2", depending on its mood that day lol =o). What do you professionals think? Does this unit look to be bad? Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Please excuse me everyone while I turn my attention towards Mr.Rich..
1st of all, your a complete idiot! The company that makes my boat is no longer in business so I can't buy directly, and the Trim Sender is discontinued. So anyone that has one will jack up the price. I have called iboats, Teleflex, local marinas, and a butt load of other after market parts dealers here online, and in my local phone book. I have even used craigslist, and eBay. Out of everyone I have called, I have only found 1 place that has 1 unit, and it is 130.00+tax+shipping. Thats around 150.00 after everythings said and done. Since I am paying the "suckers price", I invite you to.... NO I challenge you to show me where I can get one for 70$. If you can do that I will publically* apologize on here, and give you the respect you will have finally earned.
Secondly, Why do you keep editing your post to take out the dumb things you say? I guess you realize what a jackass your being, and don't want anyone else seeing it. Look man, all you really want to do is look like a big shot know-it-all, and to be honest, I hate people like you! They absolutely "URK" me! People come here for help, and I (for example) really need it! If you post on someones thread and its not an attempt to solve someones problem, then you become part of the problem. Now please stop using space on my thread to just be ignorant, or at least wait until I have a solution.

I must have missed in your detailed explanation of the problem where you stated year, make and model of the boat/engine and it's trim system that's giving you such a difficult time resolving.
