The deer program is back.
They pay $100 for a buck and $150 for a doe.
They say the goal is to harvest as manny deer as possible to start trying to control the population.
Read that article. That’s a good program to cut the deer population. Around here they would have no problem getting hunters.
I’d be willing to bet that a huge contributor to the problem is access to property to hunt. In the southeast corner of Pa. they basically give unlimited doe tags to try to cut down on deer population, have for years, still a problem. The public areas you can legally hunt there are not that many deer. Problem is all the pockets of woods between developments, large parcels the owners won’t allow hunting etc. Too much land that holds deer that’s unhuntable for one reason or the other. Initiatives for land owners to allow hunting would help as much as a bounty.
