If I could make it, you can too. I was one wired chain-smoker. I feel great now, so be prepaired to go to bed at night, and not have to get up an get a drink of water to "stop the hackin".
You'll be able to go into a movie theatre, and watch the entire presentation..You'll finally learn who done it!!!
Your car will have more value at trade-in, because it belonged to a non-smoker---And you'll have enough to pay your insurance out of the money that used to go up in smoke!
They still smell like grouper on rthe grill to me, but it's easier to stay a non-smoker the more times goes by.
Go for it :p

Yes Sloopy, it does.
I am at the almost at the end of the second day and I will have to admit on having to eat a little more so I won't go for a smoke.
I guess I can work on the smokes first and then the diet.
I made my daughter a little mad today when I told her she could not smoke in the house anymore but after a while she understood and agreed to quit with me and for that I am thankful. :)

Re: Todays the day!!!!!!!

Good luck to you spinner, I have tried through the years to quit, but never for more than a day or so and I'm back at it. My father quit smokeing after 40yrs of those non-filter cigs, just woke up one day and quit. I'm in the process of buyin a house, or I would quit!!

spinner- my experience with nicotine.

i'm a heavy smokeless tobacco user, but i have quit twice, both for over a years time. why i started again is another story.

first time i bet my girlfriend $100 i could quit longer than she could quit smoking. we both went cold turkey and lasted over a year.

second time i used the patch and pill combo. it was much easier. the patch actually got me shaking it was so strong. i didn't even think about my skoal.

i guess the point is, first example i had motivation. second, i had help. i think if i can combine the two, third time will be a charm.

good luck-

Re: Todays the day!!!!!!!

miloman, "You got mail" :D
To all you young people that visit this forum, take it from me and don't start smoking, and if you do, stop cause if you don't you will damage your health and end up at the very least spending a lot of money on smokes when you could be saving it for a real nice ride.
Seriously, please don't smoke and if you do quit.
I am doing pretty good so far. Good support from wife and kids helps a lot.
Getting the ash trays and smell away helps too.
Oh well one day at a time as they say.

Re: Todays the day!!!!!!!

SBN,
Quitting smoking is absolutely the best thing you can do for your health. The first month is just amazing...as you know already, it is hard...it is also very rewarding in that you really do feel better every day. I think you have to look at it just like you were alcoholic and take one day at a time. Be aware that after the first couple of months, you will forget how hard the first week was...don't allow yourself to get over confident (I did)and think that you can "just have one" and it will be OK. It isn't. That hook is set pretty deep. If you quit for a month, you have the physical addiction whipped...it's the mental part that gets you.

Two years ago I got to jawing with a couple of buds about quitting...long story short, I used the patch and quit for a year. Don't ask me why I started back because I couldn't tell you. Too stupid for words. Hang in there...you'll be glad you did!

Re: Todays the day!!!!!!!

Way to go guys! The most important thing is the will to not smoke. It does get easier every day after the first week. 17 years ago I did it cold turkey. I quit for the second time. I have never went back. Do not try to do just one, that almost always leads to another. You all have a lot of people here behind you.

SBN, going after 1 at a time is definitely the best. I wish it were as easy to beat the weight and diet thing. I still have to conquer that.
