I'm looking at buying a boat to restore and rebuild into a bass fishing deck style boat.
It currently has been sitting for 4 years and was filled with water in the middle where the cover rotted out.
I got the trailer the boat and a 10 hp motor for 150$
I'm just wondering if it would be better to build one from scratch or if this boat is worth putting the money into.
The boat floats with several walrus like men in it from what I can see I need to strip the inside and fiberglass the floor with new and rewire and replace the wiring and piping....

Welcome
Your going to need more then 10HP to move that boat much above what you can do with a wood paddle

Complete rebuild will cost a few thousand and maybe 6 months work

Hope you also got the steering otherwise that's another $500

Unless you really, really, really, really like the boat or swimming in fiberglass dust, sell or trash it

That's a complete rebuild as the transom is most likely/definitely toast. And it's going to get expensive as that's an antique motor with no remote controls/gauges. I see its missing the rubrail as well as I bet a walk through windshield, bow and stern lights to name a few. Going off current condition...it was harvested for any valuable parts and left to rot.

Unless there's some sort of sentimental value to it, I'd be running. Any structure added (casting deck), weighs something, so that's going to impact your overall capacity.

IF you're truly after a bass boat....buy one and restore that. Then again, bass don't care what you're casting from if its enticing enough to eat.

Trash the boat, sell the trailer for $300. If you made money, buy an aluminum boat for fishing. Tiny boat nation has some cool ideas for making tin boats into bass boats. Would still cost less and be easier than rebuilding that heavy glass boat. May even be able to reuse that old motor you got with it. Or sell that for another $100. Or trash the glass boat, buy an aluminum hull for $100, slap on the motor, put it on the trailer, go fishing.

Way to much time and money to salvage. You will be burnt out long before completion, if not broke !
