For a sea ray sundancer 250. Not worth installing a water cooled unit, just looking for a thru hatch model. Any idea where to buy one?

I see quite a few of them on Craigslist, but I'm in Florida and thay may be more prevalent here. Perhaps checking CL in your area (and surrounding areas) as well as eBay might offer some items.

for 1400 bux you can get a proper water cooled air/heat unit.

get the one with the high out put fan.

they can be put in a place where sound does not travel thru.....so they are totally quiet.

I thought the same until I got a few quotes on having it installed.Didnt have a quote under $4000.The Kits are not complete kits. You need a vent kit,a thru hull kit etc. The hatch units work great though they are a pain to lift on and off.I have one that I dont use any more that I just want to keep incase I have a future use for it.The units are over $1000 these days.Charlie

Re: Thru Hatch A/C.....Where to buy?

fly me down there and ill do it in a day for under 2....ill bring the parts !

you need a thru hull sucpper....a sea strainer
a pump to pump the water thru...and a thru hull for the water exit.

the unit i can get for under 1400 this includes the control unit.

and the venting is nothing more than insulated dryer duct hosing from lowes. the vents them selves are cheap depending on what you want.
the manifold. comes with the unit.

4k is what a pro shop would charg and walk away with 2 k in thier pocket at the end of 8 hours.

i just can t see a portable air unit sticking out of the hatch of your ray that is gonna get banged around so much that the compressor will start thumping in less than a year.

just buy the real thing and ill walk you thru the instlation.....its easy and you will have it done in a day.

ell......throw in another 1.5 k and ill throw in an installed icemaker !

I would have done that in a heart beat last year.I had my tax return refund set aside for the job.and could not find anyone to do the job for $2500 .I posted on Craigslist and called several places that advertised marine a/c.Most didnt even reply.I saw kits on ebay from a place in Fla for 12-1400 .I assumed $2500 was fair.I even made the inquiries in the off season. In the dead of winter to be precise. We need guys like you here in NY. Too bad- I'd hate the idea of wrestling that unit on and off the foredeck of a small express cruiser. They tend to be pretty steep. Good luck, and be careful

Would one of the rooftop units that R.V.'s use work? If so you can purchase them from just about any R.V. dealer. J.C. Whitney also carries them.

There are several boats at my local marina with "RV" type roof mount ac's. Talked to several of the owners and they seem pleased with the set up.
