Re: Thoughts on this boat

I've got experience with that boat (15' Ebbtide) - a friend had one. They are nice boats, but they are light and little. With the 65HP on the back she's maxed out. No speed queen, but you can do some tubing and skiing with it. Take the family along and pack in - and think about how much "stuff" you'll have along. The bow rider in that boat is more jump seats than lounges. Dunno' about your crew, but my Admiral likes to lounge :)

The boat looks well kept, and if it's in as good a shape as it looks - I might be willing to pay all $1,500 (a little sporty for a boat that age/size).

Ya, sure looks to be in good shape. And I keep thinking, for what I do with a boat, it may be just right.

That makes it worth a look. Bigger isn't always better. Hope it turns out to be a nice one.

I picked up the EbbTide last night. I gave him the full $1500. It was in really good shape. The motor started and ran flawlessly. Still had the original bimini. The only issue with it is the the hull is a little scraped up on the front keel from beaching. I'll probably be tackling that this winter. Thanks to all you guys for your input. Now I can stop looking at craigslist every day :).

Re: Thoughts on this boat

So last night, i purchased a boat cover along with an engine cover. I also picked up a new trailer jack and a rewire kit along with a couple of life jackets for the kids.
I cant wait to get this out on the water. Were supposed to have a nice weekend so i may be able to launch it if I can get the trailer rewired tonight.
I'm looking for all the information i can get on the boat and the motor so any good info that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking at the mercury forum and have downloaded a good wiring schematic. I'm looking for recommendations on things to do to the motor that will be good proactive maintenance.

Looks like you need a new prop. Hard to tell from the picture.

Ya, it's not pristine. I trying to remember the last time I saw a prop that was. So at what point do you determine that you need a new one?

Have you had the plug outta' the back? Make sure you don't have any water built up in there. As a rule: store with the plug out.

The boat looks good though!

A good prop shop should be able to repair the one you have. Buy a new one and keep the current one aboard as a spare.

Mine always are. If they get dinged, they get repaired.

You don't want to ever run an unbalanced prop.
