I had a Brinkman that I liked, but it rusted out, so I am smokeless at this time. I use the gas grill presently ...

I think nearly everyone fell for the "perhaps" troll like title, myself included, for a bit.

nwcove, we use a Masaterbuilt electric one like this:
Amazon.com: Masterbuilt 20070910 30-Inch Electric Digital Smokehouse Smoker, Black: Patio, Lawn & Garden

Works great and is simple to operate. It will take a little practice to get things the way you like it, but it's a tasty adventure! A wireless meat probe is your best friend. Use one for best results.

Well speaking of Steve Miller, one of my favorite albums was titled "The Smoker You Drink, The Player you Get". Don't think they meant tobacco.

But........... that wasn't Steve Miller, it was Joe Walsh. So, what have you been smoking' ??

Actually............ I strongly suggest that you roll your own. Use a barrel/drum and look into that to see if you like it........... then invest in one of the more expensive brands. They are not too hard to make ;)

Plenty of info on how to make your own online.

Your first smoke should be a mild one. Apple is a good start, of the old standby hickory. Remember, low and slow for your first roll.

Apple is a good start. I liked apple and mesquite combo ... Sweet and bite together! Just don't use pine!

I really like the Jack Daniels wood chips in ours for pork. They cut up the JD soaked oak barrells and make 'em into small chips. I use a lot of hickory, but do prefer apple ior cherry wood for chicken or turkey.

Well, need to correct your terminology, a group of camels is not referred to as a "pack", it would commonly be called a herd.
I dont think trying to smoke a whole herd of camels on my first try would be a good plan. I was more thinking of starting with a few trout or herring etc! ....and would it really matter if they were "straight", or any other orientation?

I picked up smoking last springs. 75 horse Mercury OptiMax. But it's very efficient and does't smoke much at all. If I really have the craving I'll fire up my 1990 Polaris snowmobile. It'll give you all the smoke anyone needs. Don't start it in the garage, it'll make your eyes water.
