Actually I prefer the Admirals choice of the correct year decals they seem a lot more clean and less cluttered.

Rob,
Are those water transfer decals? Or vinyl, like a wrap?

I'd prefer the newer typeface (all caps w red accent) on the older background w the splatter paint effect and darker blue.

Well, you'll be looking at the face plate the most anyway. Get the correct ones. I think the spatter part makes it interesting. The newer ones have the nice two tone letters but are not as interesting otherwise. I liked the red and the lettering but not much else. Go with the correct ones.

You guys aren't making this easy on me

Got everything but the foot sanded out on the motor so I'll be painting later this week.

I think I'll call the company and ask them if they'll send me the 79 face plate decal and the rest 80 - 82 decals. :D

So the Merc has gone from sanded ugly to green, to gray and then gloss black tractor paint with catalyst hardener... I think I'm finally done painting. :D

Oh awsome...Time for the decals . :D You can't go wrong with the right year decals. The engine came out real nice WM.

You have some skills with that HVLP.

Nice paint booth and paint outcome. Wish my paint work was half as good.

Thanks guys for buzzing by my dry dock, nothing more exciting than drying paint! It's a milestone having all the paint work done at least I think it's done. ;)

The new tank got delayed in shipment and will be here Tuesday now so the decking should start to go down after I get that in.

Great prep work and paint job.. Looks awesome from Texas..:becky:

Hah  yeah Decker I didn't paint over any dried up grease. I keep telling myself that it's a fishing boat and needs to be durable and look ok. I was going to rattle can the motor but decided it's best to use catalyst hardener and I'm better with my HVLP than I am with a spray bomb. I did have some areas that needed some more attention even after 2 coats, OB motors are a tough one to paint.

With outboards, you almost want to fog the room ten times and hope it sticks. Runs are incredible and uniform coverage near impossible once you start painting anything with multiple angles. Great job and patience.

Exactly right, with the HVLP I have a little experience so that combined with some knowledge I was able to adjust my fan size and paint flow to the nozzle. I have no runs that are in your face, just one sag where I tried to touch it up up underneath on the motor mount. Always keep the gun moving, never pull the trigger unless sweeping the gun. That fine line of the paint laying down correctly or it runs/sags is a magic and elusive thing for me.

Glued the sound blanket back in the cowl wrap and buttoned her all up for a photo op.

The gleaming TOWER of POWER!

No polished face plate! I like that feature on my Merc. If she ever gets gussied up, polished for sure.

She is lookin' good, Rob.

I sure did think about polishing the face plate but was wondering how it would look on an otherwise less than polished fishing boat covered in non skid..
