Troll Troll Troll you boat...

My very first boat purchase was a Bayliner Capri 215LX. It goes plenty fast enough for the family and I. It does everything it was designed to do.

Now that I'm ready and able... I'm stepping up to a fishing boat. Probably a Trophy or similar.

I don't have a problem at all buying another Bayliner. I don't make the best wages in the world, but the Bayliner is a great entry-level boat.

To each his own...

H.

Re: the truth about Bayliner lovers/haters

My first cabin cruiser was a used 1987 Bayliner Contessa 2850. Had a lot of good times on that boat, and she always got us safely back to dock. A little under powered with a single 7.4L (ok it was a ford so I think it was a 460 ci), the fit and finish wasn't all that great, but it was solid, had every option that I wanted (genset, air/heat, etc) And I sold her for more than I paid for her 4 years later. No real work other than normal maintenance. Not bad, not bad at all.

Folks tend to badmouth Bayliners because they are -
simply put - UGLY. Thats right, butt Ugly. IMHO
of course.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Wasted bandwidth anyway.

Have you noticed the poll results. Just as I suspected. I went through the same thing back when I rode AMF Harleys. The people that bashed them were the one's that never owned one and the same people that bought them when Harleys became "Hip".

Sorry JB, I was thinking polls could only be posted in DC.

Yeah, I noticed that OMC. If Bayliner had that big of an issue on the contruction of their hulls, I think the USCG and other agencies would have forced a recall. This is America and if enough people die due to a poorly designed item, then you would have seen a major recall.

Re: the truth about Bayliner lovers/haters

I actually registered just to see the results of this poll. I just bought my first bayliner, a Trophy 2302. Any boat can be a bad boat boat if not handled properly and with respect. Granted, it is an "entry level" boat, and many buy this brand because of it. Rather than comparing apples and oranges, it should be compared to other "entry level" boats, and not a Fountain, Cigarette, or Formula (the entry level go fast). Bayliner has to meet the same safety specs in manufacturing as all other boat makers in the USA, otherwise they would probably not still be in business....
I'm sure I'm going to get a hard time with this being my first post, as I am new to this board, but I am not new to boats, and this is MY opinion, take it with a grain of salt! :D

best $2k i ever spent.....bayliner capri bowrider....lots of family fun, not a single problem. boat was a 1990 model and i new the original owner. he never had any major repairs done to the boat.

what i don't understand is why anyone would have a problem with a person wanting to be on the water? so what if their boat doesn't cost as much as yours or look as pretty.
i would buy another bayliner......no second thoughts.

Uhhhh, Baja power, how can you compare that boat to a bayliner? Your fuel bill for a weekend could purchase a used boat of any brand for a low income family.

You seem to be comparing a Lamborgini to a moped. This just doesn't float for my comparison. Get real, compare your boat with others in the same catagory. Geeesh.

Also if that is your boat, how come it doesn't have Ohio plates on the trailer?

Re: the truth about Bayliner lovers/haters

Sad thing is, for my boating purposes, I'd rather have a new Bayliner than baja's boat.

I'm sure it's fun on Erie, but not on a smaller lake. Plus, you go fast... then you go fast... then you go... yeah, fast.

Not a great boat for a day cruising around the lake fishing or getting sun or finding islands for grilling lunch.

I'd rather have a bowrider than a race boat. But, to each their own.

I can say I'd love a ride in baja's boat. :)

That all said, I wouldn't buy a Bayliner. I'd probably get a Yamaha SX230 High Output.

I sent an email to Marine Management to see if that Apache was still available. If it is then Baja has quite a bit of explaining to do lol.

So baja power since that didn't work and it appears that you posted a pic of someone else's boat.......

If you reside in Ohio, why is "your boat" for sale in Florida????
