Roll and tip or roll and back roll work well but like you say, you shouldn't expect the results you can get with a spray gun. With the Interlux products it's all about thinning and temperature. Still, these are 20ft paint jobs. At a distance of 20ft you'll swear it's perfect but up close you'll see the imperfections.
Unless you have the proper protective gear and pressure pot spray equipment you can't spray Perfection safely and correctly. The roll & tip or the roll & back roll method is the best for the majority of us.
VC Performance can be sprayed and it is the recommended method but the recommended method for the barrier coating is roll only so it's kind of moot point if you go that route.
Try to keep in mind that the only time your boat is a show boat is when it's not being a boat. I like to look good on the highway too and a roll and tip job at 60mph looks just like a spray job.
