I wouldn't be too worried about it. Boats arent exactly flying off the shelves this time of year...........

Looks fantastic for it's age and obviously sheltered, well maintained. Nice paintjob too!

My thoughts exactly. Looking forward to seeing it, fingers crossed the floor and transom are good. It looks like it will make a very nice inshore boat.

If running with good compression, that motor is worth the price by itself. I'm not a fan of the boat having had a 16' closed bow myself.

What's the reasoning behind not liking the design?

Just hafta hold the rod up high and forward and hope the BIG fish does'nt pull the line across the bow if you've got'em near the surface!! I don't see any rodholders on that boat either. If the hull is sound and the motor runs I would say it's a steal, but I'm no expert. Looks like bimini attachements on it also is that included?

Re: The "help me with craigslist boats" thread

Just got back from looking at it.

It's gorgeous and has a lot of potential. The old 70hp Evinrude started in 19 degree weather, which was impressive. The transom seemed solid, I really yanked on it in every which way. The floor had carpet on it, which made it hard to tell whether or not the floor had soft spots, but it felt fine jumping around on it.

The drivers side seat was shot, but they have those front and rear facing seats. The trailer seemed solid and it had new tires.

The boat plate said "GW National Boat Works," and the old owner said it was a Grady White but this guy isn't as sure. However, a google search showed nothing. The serial number is 1106B07. He said his reason for selling was it was too heavy to trailer it around, as it took 6mpg off his car. He was looking for a small aluminum fishing boat instead.

It seems like it has a lot of potential, I'm going to think about it today and then pick it up on my way home if I decide to get it. Any input is appreciated, as always. For $500 ($575 with his mounted fish finder) it seems like it could be just what I'm looking for. It has a lot of potential for restoring and could be a very handsome boat with a couple of hundred dollars and some work. I wish it was a little larger for the rougher days, but it seems like a really solid inshore boat.

JUMP ON IT, It sounds like it's worth way more than he's asking! I see jon boats for sale here all day long for that price w/o motors or trailers!! For more room, ditch the folding seats and add 2 pedistals up front and a big cooler out back for seating others. Looks like plenty of space/places for mounting rodholders too.

Re: The "help me with craigslist boats" thread

Went back to get her and he fired her up on the hose, started on the first attempt (with the only "warm up" being at 9am this morning). She ran great, idled well, full throttle sounded good. Unfortunately my 2" hitch was firmly rusted on (needed to replace it with a 1 7/8ths) so tomorrow I'm headed up with another car, actually a more towing qualified truck.

I'm psyched! I'm looking forward to putting the extra $500 towards restoring her, as you can tell it was a gorgeous boat in it's day.

Those motors are pretty tough to start in the cold sometimes so that one sounds real healthy to me.

Full throttle? do you WANT to grenade it? Save full throttle for the sea trial

Could have easily not been full, he was in charge. At any rate it was there for less than a second, I was more concerned with idling.
