Re: the 1967 Holiday 18 and Multiple Boat Syndrome
so, remember all my endeavors to make up a beveled ring to angle the fuel filler, then epoxy and varnish it? After I get this all done, I see a Perko angled filler cap WITH incorporated vent outlet, for $27, that puts the hose at a far greater angle. So I’ll be using this instead.

The sad tale of the dorm fridge: before you chain it to a tree for support while you redo the transom, be sure the tree isn’t about to fall over. I’ll have to use the engine crane to hoist it to where I can get it on appliance dolly, then move it to upper driveway so I can reinstall on boat. Hoping nothing super critical/expensive got smashed in the fall.....

Also did a bunch of work on the console. Now that it’s nicely glassed on the inside, I’m reinstalling the interior and plumbing in the tank.
[/IMG] Tank area ended up pretty tight despite measuring twice, but I think it will fit even with hydrocarbon swell. The retaining strap may not be necessary. Realized I’m going to have to move all the electrics to one side, though, to be able to get batteries in place with them mounted, so I’ll have to drill another 8 holes. Wish I’d realized this before I drilled out the resin that had filled the existing holes!
Still need to work out the routing on how to get the steering cable, fuel line, battery cables, and wires from inside console to conduit under deck. Plan is to get console mostly ready to install and then sand and spray the varnish on the exterior right before I stick it into the boat for final assembly. It’s already so heavy that it’s going to take at least 2 people to lift it into boat and it’s nowhere near fully assembled.
I guess that’s about up to where I’m currently at. Having it ready for the July 4 trip is looking less likely... :embarassed: But we are making progress.
