SX-A, Drive will not turn prop

2008 5.7 GI-J, SX-A drive.

I tried searching the forums first but could not find a previous post

Hit a stump leaving a cove, drive will not turn prop. Prop shaft turns manually with prop, so I don't think I spun the hub. Prop rotates freely in both directions and drive has no clunking noises or binding, so I dont think I broke an internal shaft. Shift cable still attached and moves in both directions. Shifting into F or R with the engine off does not lock the prop. shifting to F or R with the engine on does not move the prop either direction, it is not "clunking" when it goes into gear like it used to. I pulled the shifter housing and the shift shoe is not broken. Any advice?

The u-joint? Wouldnt there be a large amount of noise and vibration if the u-joint let go?

The drive needs to come off regardless. Once off you can check things out better. Check for metal in gear oil.
