Going to pull the 2.5 out of the StarCraft for a head start tomorrow night… anyone know what size the bolts are at the rear? And what about the front mount? I’ve got to bring tools with me

turns out. A 3/4” socket, 7/8” wrench, 5/8” wrench, pliers and a nut driver is really all it took

How does this steering come off the old transom plate? The Alpha is totally different

Gaining on it…. Gimbals on. Engine is in. No pics because we were hustling. Bad part is the wiring is different, the steering won’t hook up. The cable is too long, and it’s seized to the old steering tube. So it’s time for a new helm… I pulled the main harness from the parts boat…. The old mercontrol is screwed up. Sloppy as all get out and I notice the warm up lever pulls on the shift cables too.. just that large hole in the water …. I bolted the skin from the parts boat onto the StarCraft for the pattern. For the cutout

Do I replace the steering with no feedback cable steering? Is it anything special being an I/O?

Little change of plans… the engine has a bit of a rear main leak and it looks a little rough from sitting in a water logged glasser… I found a nice engine for cheap, local if checks out. Its identical to the one I just put in

Ayuh,..... Which parts are you trying to use,..??
Somehow missed this post.. was trying to re use the starcrafts 1971 helm and cable. But i cant get it to separate from the old steering tube. The brass part is seized in. im going to bite the bullet and order a teleflex NFB helm and cable. I have a couple working helms but I need a cable

Looks like I’m going to wing it and see what the engine I have does. Went to grab the other one and it was locked up tight. I could have got it for parts cheap but I don’t need junk. I probably should have for the coupler but oh well

I’d have yanked the coupler, housing and the front mount and sent the rest to scrap. But a locked up engine isn’t something I would keep.. as is I’m going to have a box full of dock cleats and odds and ends from the parts boat after I scrap it.

Even with the questionable engine I’m pressing on trying to breath life into it. Got the wiring in place. I left the 4 winns console connected for now. And I get no power. Not really sure what’s up. The harness looks fine. Unless the plug isn’t getting a good connection. The main breaker by the plug is not tripped

If all goes well Tomorrow I’ll have another boat in my rear view which will be an eventual parts boat. It’s a 4 winns in better shape than the pile I bought before

Did it again. Couldn’t pass it up. 1988 Regal Medallion 185. Runs perfectly, motor is clean and serviced. surprisingly it’s actually solid. Garage stored and the bilge was totally dry. Interior is partially removed but included. Rough around the edges but it’s seaworthy.. will use it until I’m ready to swap motors and then I’ll resell it as needing attention. I won’t be without a big boat this year at all. Came with a tube too

After digging farther into the ‘new’ boat. I’m not putting it on the water. Few things that could be fisherman fixed good enough to make it out. But that’s not me.

I’m not sure that the alternator and starter are marine components, but that’s ok as I have those. But the engine runs nice and most importantly no oil leaks. Gimbal bearing is screaming tho… and the previous owner didn’t tighten the hoses, leading to the slight leakage
