My wife heard the same forecast. She has had me stacking firewood on the porch all day now.

Firewood was mentioned at my house, too. Damn, now I have to get more flashlights, batteries, milk, bread, generator fuel, oil for the lamps; will it ever end? Should I have the boat pulled out, or not? So many decisions, so little time.

Seriously though, I've been watching the forecast all day and the storm is tracking more westwardly so it could really impact a lot of folks. The last time we had strong winds in the Williamsburg, VA area, my daughter was without power for four days. Losing food in the refrigerator was a concern not to mention the inconvenience with the kids out of school.

Yes, according to the Weather Channel the various models that are used to predict storm track and intensity are now converging on a single scenario effecting NJ / Long Island. I am sure everyone is out buying milk as I type.

Don't forget the beer. Some are saying this could be on par with the "Perfect Storm" that caused the demise of the Andrea Gale back in 1991. The fishing fleet is currently at sea and more than fours days out so they aren't returning to port because that would put them right in the teeth of the storm. Ya'll be careful up there.

Not wishing you Yankees any bad luck but somewhere north of Virginia would suit me fine. I am not sure I would know what to do with snow before Halloween. And yes that is one of the options on the table according to local weather forecasts.

Seriously people: stay safe

Yea .. but they are talking a Hurricane type storm ( big wide one .. not compact ) mixed with a cold front ..

Is it a Blizzardcane ? .. wow new one for me.

Or is it a non issue storm ..

If I was in the line of path I would get my stuff together.

Storms can sometimes jam you up .. just saying.. dont discount things that Might happen.

YD.

Wish y'all luck. Having lived in FLA for most of my life and weathered a few major storms, I've devised my own 'storm preparedness' checklist. You may not find these on Jim Cantori of the weather channels list but here goes anyway:

1) Toilet paper

2) Ammo beer'n cigarettes

3) Fuel for truck, boat, generator'n gas grille

4) Food & water

After the tornados of April 27,2011 we were without power fo 8 days. The big problem was all the gas stations/stores were also without power. Getting fuel for generators, etc. was a major concern.

We are getting the rescue boat ready, getting generators ready, making sure the pumps are all fueled and ready, chain saws sharpened, fueled, and ready ... Lots of prep at the fire department today, tomorrow, and Sunday.
