Good day folks.. just purchased a 1985 Doral bowrider with an OMC 800 Stringer (3.8L V6).
Needs a bit of work, but I could really use a PDF copy of the Seloc manual 3400 for it.. I saw it was uploaded a while back to 4shared, but the links are long dead now. Any chance someone could re-upload it when they have a minute please? Would be greatly appreciated. Will post later on to see if anyone has any input on a few of the issues I have with it too.. Thanks in advance :)

first, welcome aboard

you do NOT want a seloc manual or a haynes manual or a clymer manual. they also do not make PDF versions.

you can get a factory manual here: https://outboardbooks.com/ it will be hard copy as well.

also a good resource are the guys at TC Electronics. http://sterndrive.info/

had you come here prior to buying your boat with the obsolete drive, we would have tried to steer you away to something that is supported.

Thanks for the info. Been to sterndrive.info.. good site for parts breakdowns and such. Didn't know about the iboats forums until I went hunting for a wiring diagram for the engine. This boat is just something to tinker with over the winter.. maybe do a bit of fishing next year, etc. Thanks again for the info tho :)

Well, got her in the water for a bit today. Seems it has a fuel supply issue though. Started great, and putted around the end of the lake for about 10 minutes. Shut down and started a few times.. successfully. Accelerated very smooth to about 1/2-ish throttle and held it there for about 15 seconds, then the engine quit. Was able to re-start it, but stalled again on way back to the dock, shortly after we sped up to about 1/4 throttle. Couldn't re-start a second time. Since it sat for at least a year (likely more), I suspect the carb.. maybe the fuel filter? Suggestions (aside from changing boats Lol)?
Thanks,
Paul

start troubleshooting and fix what is wrong.

is the issue fuel system related? you may need to start at the tank and work your way to the carb and clean everything (inside the tank, the pickup, the pickup tube, the anti-siphon fitting, the fuel filter, the inlet filter on the carb and the carb)

is it ignition relate? you may need to service your points

is it mechanical? the gear box on my stringer boat ate itself welding the bearings to the shaft and brought the motor to a halt.
