Not a Stingray problem it's a motor cooling problem

What motor/outdrive?

No on the water test before purchase, bad mistake

If it's not the impeller then most of the time it's the risers that need to be replaced. They rust on the inside and the rust flakes clog the water passages. My 190 LX had the same problem and was running on the original one piece risers (discontinued). After replacing the riser manifolds with the newer 2 piece style, it runs cool as a cucumber. I had rust clogging passages all the way down into the outdrive that were cleaned out when replacing the risers.

Did you simply toss it in the water vs doing all the maintenance the prior owner didn't do?

Did you find all the missing bits of the old impeller?

Did you back flush?

Also, what motor/drive?
