cool, looked at a few specs and thought an 18 would work. Still stay smaller on the engine just need to chug around.

Ae the islanders/chiefs the same hull as a mariner? I want tall gunnels if possible to make it harder for the bassets to do something stupid.

Well, headed to Kentucky in the morning to pick up what appears to be an SS, 18 foot, mid 70s. No seats no windshield. Prob going to make it into a mariner. Comes with a nice trailer and a purportedly running 60 hp Force. It doesn't have the flywheel on so no starting it up but also comes with a parts motor with no lower. The motors were only 300 extra so we'll hope for the best.

thru the giant rain for almost seven hours today, all things did not happen as planned. Headed back Saturday to get her.


But got a good look at it and the hull is 90%, original paint. Has some crinkles at the bow eye from what I assume was bad loading over the years.

The splashwell is there except to the floor part of it so need to learn about that.

It is titled as a 1969.

was that guy's El Dorado under a carport/shed, off the trailer? 1 popped up in KY @Marketplace, asking 2K..... a bit high IMO

And there is No HIN on it. So I gave up considering buying it.

It does look longer. 22’?

Starting in '81, it was renamed the MR180, It had a nearly flat splash well that was only 11.5" front to back. This added 23" of usable space over the previous model years that had the big deep long splash well.

Also, if you look at the transom and depth of the splash well, the top of that big honkin v4 evinrude is about even with the top of the gunnels.
It has to be on of the big girls. Needs a big motor to lift her onto plane.


Here is the stern of my '74 Mariner with large splash well.


And here is my '81 with the tiny splash well.
Makes for more room, and I can sit right by my tiller kicker motor and back troll for walleyes.
