Is that a real estimate on the transom repair on that SS or do you think he just called a repair shop and said " I have a rotten transom" then they just quoted $3000.00 off the cuff sight unseen? If that's how much people charge for a transom in a tin boat then I may start offering repair services in my area at about half that cost, and still feel guilty about how much I charge.

And another, the bottom has fallen out of the SS market out here.

that old-school 10Hp Honda Kicker would be worth a good chunk of that $700 asking IMO...

^^^ and seeing that picture enlarged, it looks like they through-bolted the outer transom skin to the splashwell. I bet stress cracks galore.

Looks like a mis-labeled 18ftr, esp since the tandem trailer doesn't dwarf the boat, but I'd think the seller should KNOW if it's a 16 or an 18ftr............

When bad things happen to good boats... refurbished? [h=2]1968 refurbished starcraft[/h] Custom carpeted splashwell (only carpet in the boat) looks good covering up those big round pesky holes.

Must have been a sale on dimensional lumber and latex paint at Lowes.

That's a 24' or 25' Starcraft Chieftain, that looks like someone has started the demo on.

I think that Honda may be old enough to have condensers and points...lots of NLA parts unfortunately, but I bet it still runs perfect like almost all the old hondas. [Edit: yeah, it's a '79, which is pre-CDI ignition]

More significantly, WTH is that kicker bracket mounted to?! The atmosphere? That's an 80# engine

Yeah, that's nuts. There's one here for $13,500 with a carbed 2 stroke. Nice boat, but crazy money. You might as well finance a new one and take great care of it.
