what if you happened to come across a glasser that was just too cool to 'donate'?

pfft. That's like asking us if we'd turn-down a steak because it looked too fat-n-juicy!

I don't know guys, I may just be a poser here then, cause I found one of these glassers for a "few Hundred" bucks that is in amazing good shape and in need of some TLC that I may have to buy.

I just love the fins, with built in trailer lights, and the eye brow navigation lights. I may have to put up with some itching. The biggest issue I have with it is, you really can't ski behind it, you really can't fish from it, so its just a lake or river cruiser.

^^^ a couple hundred & it won't be a little TLC, it'll be a whole truck load.

But it's a nice looking boat, Falls Flyer?

Larson Thunderhawk, but the hull looks in great shape, and its not missing anything but the decals,

You are right, about it being a truckload. Restoration of the existing engine or buying an already restored one + all the grinding of glass, new stringers, glassing, and gel coating. Upholstery and rechroming of hardware. It could easily cost $5K+ to put her standing tall.

Really? Are you serious? ;) You need to pick up a tin project, Joe. Then you'll understand. :joyous:

I dunno, you guys work way harder on yours than I'm doing on mine and my wife will divorce me if I show up with another project. But wait, I can work on it at my buddies house....

Bring the admiral into the project. Mine was out in the garage with me yesterday, hanging on the gunnels across from me talking about trips we'll take and how fun they will be. I give her side projects like trim and glass work to clean and work on.

My first post :) Interesting design with the simulated portholes. Can anyone identify? I'm looking for my project to rennovate/restyle to a SuperSport configuration, but as Watermann has noted, people are very proud of their Starcrafts here in the inland NW!

Why yes, we can:
Ahhhhhhh! Port holes??? :faint2:

Whoever did that doesn't deserve such a cute little tinny.

I bet those port holes are original:

Original color too:
Texasmaidb63011.jpg

And for several reasons, IMO, this should NOT be converted into an open bow SS style boat:
1) At $1500, w/out a motor, it's not even remotely priced to buy for a full gut & convert project
2) From the bad pix it isn't in bad shape nor has it had poorly done modifications/conversions in the past AND should be left intact. But I can't buy them all, despite what my Admiral thinks I am currently doing.........

Just the BIG 2 ^^^

It would look a bit funky to have 3 port holes per side in an open bow anyway.

There will be other, better candidates......

Welcome aboard, Cloud. I agree with JB about not being a good open bow conversion candidate. 1500 is a bit steep for a redesign project and for the right price, I think a near resto would be a better choice on this one.

The ad copy cracks me up. "Big bow hatch for ventilation and easy beach boarding." Maybe some toddlers can board through the hatch, but I want to see an adult's contortions boarding via the hatch.

Wow, I just surfed thru the Spokane craigs & there's a lot of tin out there. Priced fairly high, but some of the rigs are NICE, really nice in fact. In the $2500-4K range there were quite a few 16-22ft boats either in & around Spokane or relatively nearby.....

I wonder if it was Elkhunter's ad for:
Wanted 26ft SC

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Thanks for the info and the welcome! I thought I had seen something about portholes in a previous post, but couldn't locate it. I wasn't thinking of converting the Tahiti, just found it interesting. Yes, there are a number of tin floats close by. In fact, there are no less than 5 Holidays within 2.5 hours, including an inboard, but I hate to pay much for a boat I'll be cutting into. May still be the best option, however. Patience is not one of my virtues!

Why yes we are a bit touched! :stupid:

Welcome aboard neighbor, I drove through CD'A a while back getting my donor glasser in Sandpoint. Nice to have another iboater out here in in the PNW.

Alright here's a typical PNW priced SC at $3400 for a gut job Holiday, but it has a great Nav seat with a surprise down rigger inside! 18' starcraft
