An 18' Offshore. 1969 with 115 Johnson. $3200 in SC. Did he move the lower rub rail?

18' Starcraft Alu. deep Vee,115hp Johnson

This is what the 1969 Starcraft Offshore model is supposed to look like. Which is basically an early version of the 18 foot Super Sport.

Don't shoot the messenger, guys.:laugh: The seller called it an Offshore and the ID plate says Offshore. I knew something wasn't right. Looking closer in hindsight at the transom, the wings look cut down and no splashwell. At first glance, all looked OK. Maybe he sold the top portion as scrap to finance the build. :suspicious:

If I have to vet every ad, I'm asking for a pay raise. ;) Let's see 10% of nuttin' is nuttin'. :faint2: You're on yer own. :watermelon:

Who in there right mind would want to run around in that 18ftr w/ a 115 on it, sitting on a seat pedestal that puts your rearend ABOVE the 'gunwale'?

If you can even call it that......

I guess being tin it doesn't draft much so there's still some freeboard, but wow, why not just buy a flats skiff..........

work w/ what ya got I guess.....

Looks like they attempted to do nice work, it's certainly a 20foot beauty if ya ignore the missing upper 1/3rd.....

Perhaps the cutoff bits went into the structure for all that decking...................

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

yeah it is obvious the guy cut the top of the gunnels off... he may have wanted more of a bass boat set up....or maybe a tree fell on it and damaged the upper section....the bow eye is right where it should be near the end of the strake....but the top have been cut down to it!!! some guys like to be down INSIDE their boat, others want to be on top of their boat( like bass fishermen)...but we know they guy didn't go cut an offshore sticker out of another boat and rivet it into this one...!!!!!! he re did the boat and he did a lot of work....and it might have suited his needs...I know some guys may have cringed when I cut the top of my islander off....but I had the boat free in hand...and wanted something other than a cuddy.....if you take a junk yard candidate and turn her into something that could be used for another 20 years...that's got to be a positive....bob

Darn, I can't have any fun! :joyous: Did I use the wrong stickies? :grumpy:

No offense taken guys, just havin' fun on a rainy day.

BTW - Bob, you are changing your Islander to suit your needs. Most of us have no problem with that. Those that do, I say tough petunias.
