Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

I was in California in September and looked at this one, my old stomping grounds. The hull is in good shape but the interior needs to be redone. the motor is a Ford 351, 233 hp and is not working. It needs to be rebuilt according to the owner however, he told me the outdrive was ok. The person that owned this boat had just lost his houswe in a foreclosure and had his boat sitting out on the street. The Orange police department must have towed it away and I would venture to say the owner probably couldn't afford to get it out of the impound yard . To bad he was a nice guy. The boat would be a great project and is worth the money.
Here are some more pictures I have of the boat from my Starcraft photo library.
CheapboatKev where did you used to live in California? I lived in Fullerton.
Thanks for the info
I think it would be perfect for what I have envisioned with the wife and future family, I would love to be able to go camping out on the lake, and it would be perfect to go fishing and camping with the same trailer
If that boat was closer, I would pick it up this weekend...
Main issue is distance, taking time off, and that darn canyon.
After my wife?s grandma passed I had to drive a massive uhaul back to Utah from Torrance, going up that hill was a chore, going back down required concentration...
Thinking about it, I would want my brother in laws F350.
He has been hauling a trailer that weighs around 10k empty, does pretty darn well
I think it would handle that boat without any issues...
Price of diesel fuel + I think it was about a 1400 mile round trip last time I checked, his truck gets about 10mpg or less...
Rough estimate would be around $400-$500 just for fuel in that thing
Great idea about scrapping the engine though!
There is another boat that is not nearly as nice as that one looks, 18 or 19ft starchief, it runs and apparently the guy is trying to get a down payment for a house going and is selling off all of his toys (bike, boat, tv, and a bunch of other crap)...
Right now he is asking 1700 and lowers his price every other week, I'm keeping an eye on it; I want to spend around 1k on it.
The one I really want is a 22ft islander, I saved his ad from this last summer.
He has listed it in the past 2 summers in a row, and put one listing and then gave up, next year, he did the same thing.
I searched his phone number and got an address, google earth shows what looks to be a large white boat in his backyard
Says it runs and just needs floors and stuff...
Thats the one that really interests me, but its up north a bit, and only about an hour drive...
I may just give him a call out of the blue before I think about grabbing anything else, his ad said it has a good engine and I/O
man the crap my wife puts up with
